About Whitsuntide, 43 Edward III, he enfeoffed William Bawde, knight, the younger, Ralph Walsham and others of the premises, without the king’s licence, on condition that he might re-enter thereon when he returned from beyond seas. He returned about the feast of All Saints in the same year, and re-entered and took the profits and died seised of the premises in such wise. Before the said feoffment he granted by his writing a yearly rent of 40 marks from the manor of Greyeshalle to Alice late the wife of Thomas de Grey, knight, his father, for life. In the year 40 Edward III the said Thomas by his writing granted a yearly rent of 20 marks from the manor of Denardeston to Thomas his son for life. Roger died on 16 September last.
