YORK. | The inquisition is mostly illegible; but from what can be read it appears that the findings are practically identical with those of a subsequent inquisition taken on a writ of Mandamus in 2 Henry VIII [C. Series II. Vol. 25. (111.) and E. Series II. File 217. (24.)], except for the age of the heir. The lands concerned are the manors of Wodhall and Collom by Sledmore, the advowson of a mediety of the church of Derfeld, and divers messuages and lands &c. in Wodhall, Collom, Crome, Derfeld, Hymlyngfeld, Ederthorp, Smetheley, Tykhyll, Wombewell, Frykley and Pygbourne. There is mention of a settlement made on John Drax, Alexander’s son and heir apparent, and Margaret, daughter of Percival Amyas, and the heirs of their bodies, and of the provision of life estates after his (Alexander’s) death for Margaret, his wife, and his three sons, Nicholas Drax, Thomas Drax and Robert Drax. |
