Mark (Som.): part of Wedmore, conf. to bp. Giso by kg. Edward Confessor May 1065 (Keynes, 'Giso' app. I no. 9); given by queen Edith for cans. of Wells 6 Jan. 1066 × 18 Dec. 1075 (ibid. no. 15; Historiola p. 17; and see Keynes, 'Giso' p. 239). Included in bp.'s manor of Wedmore in DB.
Church of Mark established as 5th preb. of Wedmore, valued at £4, to which was added 20s from church of Dogmersfield (Som.), 29 Oct. 1242 (Cal. I 60; and see list 68 no. 4). Pensions from Mark and Dogmersfield abolished by bp. William of Bitton II 4 Apr. 1268, and current preb., Richard de Bamfeld, transf. to newly established preb. of Dinder (Cal. I 105; list 36).
