Lady Mordant's Estate.

A BILL, intituled, An Act to enable the Right Honourable the Lady Mary Mordant to make Sale of her Interest in the Manor of Blechingley, and divers Lands in the County of Surry, notwithstanding her Minority, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to Lord Longford, Serjeant Mainard, Sir Wm. Coventry, Sir An. Irby, Sir Hen. Capell, Sir Edw. Hungerford, Sir John Hanmer, Colonel Legg, Mr. Secretary Williamson, Lord Cavendish, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Robert Carr, Lord Ancram, Mr. Mallett, Sir Edw. Deering, Sir Wm. Portman, Lord O Brian, Sir John. Mallett, Sir Tho. Littleton, Mr. Hamden, Sir Gilbert Talbott, Sir Court. Poole, Sir Robert Howard, Sir Trevor Williams, Mr. Buscowen, Sir Tho. Squibb's Estate.

A Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable the Sale of certain Lands in Winterborne Whitechurch in the County of Dorsett, lately belonging to Lawrence Squibb Esquire, was read a Third time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be agreed to.

Stannary Laws.

A Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act for settling the Laws of the Stannaries of Cornwall and Devon, and Encouragement of Adventurers in Tin, and Preservation of his Majesty's Revenue arising in and by the same, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

Lindsey Level.

A Motion being made, for appointing a Time for the hearing the Matter concerning the Draining of Lindsey Level, at the Committee to whom the Bill stands referred, after the Recess;

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the Bill for draining Lindsey Level stands referred, do sit Fourteen Days after the next Sitting of this House: And Summons is to be sent to all Parties therein concerned, then to appear.

Conference on Lords Amendments to Supply Bill.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir John Franklin;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords desire a present free Conference with this House, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Amendments sent from the Lords, to the Bill for raising the Sum of Five hundred Eighty-four thousand Nine hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Two Shillings Twopence Halfpeny, for the speedy building Thirty Ships of War; concerning which Amendments the Two last Conferences were had.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to a present free Conference with the Lords, in the Painted Chamber, as desired.

The Messengers being called in; Mr. Speaker acquaints them, That this House hath agreed to meet the Lords, at a present free Conference in the Painted Chamber, as desired.

Ordered, That the Members that did attend, and manage the former Conferences, do attend, and manage this free Conference.

Sir Thomas Meres reports from the free Conference had with the Lords, That they had attended, and delivered their Reasons and Precedents.

A Debate arising in the House, whether the House should adhere to the Bill for raising the Sum of Five hundred Eighty-four thousand Nine hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Two Shillings Two-pence Halfpeny, for the speedy Building Thirty Ships of War, without Amendment;

THE Question being put, To agree to the Amendments sent from the Lords, to the Bill for raising the Sum of Five hundred Eighty-four thousand Nine hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Two Shillings Two-pence Halfpeny, for the speedy Building Thirty Ships of War;

Resolved, &c. That, upon the Report of what was offered at the last free Conference, the House of Commons cannot agree to the Amendments sent from the Lords, to the Bill for raising the Sum of Five hundred Eighty-four thousand Nine hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Two Shillings Two pence Halfpeny, for the speedy Building Thirty Ships of War.

Ordered, That such Members as managed the last free Conference, do withdraw; and consult together touching Reasons to be offered at a free Conference to be had with the Lords upon the Subject Matter of the last free Conference; and that Colonel Byrch and Sir Tho. Littleton be added to them.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir John Franklin;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down a Bill, intituled, An Act to enable Trustees to raise Money upon Cobham House and Park: And have commanded us to acquaint you, that they have agreed to the Bill for laying an additional Excise upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, for Three Years, without any Amendment; and also to the Bill for erecting a Judicature, to determine Differences touching Houses burnt and demolished by the late dreadful Fire in Southwarke, without any Amendment; and likewise to the Bill to enable Trustees to sell Lands, for the Payment of Debts of Edward Standish Esquire, without any Amendment.

Ordered, That Mr. Mallett do carry up the Bill on the Behalf of Mr. Squibb, to the Lords.

Lady Mordant's Estate.

Mr. Mallett reports from the Committee, to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act to enable the Right Honourable the Lady Mary Mordant to make Sale of her Interest in the Manor of Blechingley, and divers Lands in the County of Surry, notwithstanding her Minority, some Amendments agreed by the Committee.

An Exception being taken to the Report;

Ordered, That the said Bill be re-committed to the former Committee.

Privilege.

A Complaint being made of a Breach of Privilege committed against Mr. Francis Finch, a Member of this House, by Robert Cressett Esquire, and one Robert Holmes, Under Sheriff of the County of Salop, and one John Mowsell, by threatening to turn out one John Phillipps, Tenant to the said Mr. Francis Finch, of the Possession of a Tenement by Force, if he would not attorn Tenant to the said Robert Cressett; and by setting up Rails against his Gates, so as his Cattle cannot have Passage into the Grounds belonging to the said Tenement;

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Privileges, to examine the Matter; and report the same, with their Opinions, to the House.

Mr. Finch delivers in a Bill, to Mr. Speaker, on the Behalf of Thomas Cheeke Esquire.

Conference desired with Lords.

Ordered, That a free Conference be desired with the Lords upon the Subject Matter of the last free Conference: And that the Lord O Brian go up to the Lords to desire that free Conference.

The Lord O Brian acquaints the House, That he had attended the Lords; and desired a free Conference with them upon the Subject Matter of the last free Conference: And that the Lords had agreed to a free Conference with this House on Monday Morning, at Ten of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Eight of the Clock.
