Coke's Estate.

A BILL sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act to supply the Defects in a Deed of Settlement, made by John Coke Esquire, deceased; and for altering a Trust in Part of the Estate of Robert Coke Esquire; was read the Second time.

A Proviso to be made Part of the Bill, was also twice read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Proviso, be committed to Sir Francis Clarke, Sir Tho. Woodcock, Doctor Arras, Colonel Kirkby, Lord Dumblayne, Mr. Reeve, Mr. Robert Wright, Sir Roger Bradshaw, Mr. Boreman, Sir Francis Lawley, Mr. Mallett, Mr.Crouch, Sir John Heath, Sir Wm. Puckering, Sir John Brampston, Mr. Westphaling, Mr. Ayres, Mr. Weld, Mr. Gower, Mr. May, Sir John Robinson, Sir John Covert, Sir Lewis Palmer, and all that serve for the Counties of Norfolke, Suffolk, Essex, and Herford: And they are to meet at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber: And are impowered to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Frauds and Perjuries.

Sir Charles Harbord reports from the Committee, to which the Bill, sent from the Lords, intituled, An Act to prevent Frauds and Perjuries, several Amendments agreed by the Committee to be made to the Bill: Which were twice read; and all, but the last Amendment (which was to make the Bill temporary) were, upon the Question, agreed.

And the Bill, with the Amendments, was read the Third time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments, do pass: And that Sir Henry Ford do carry the same up to the Lords.

Privilege- Petition from persons in custody.

A Petition of Thomas Tompkins and Edward Clarke, now in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, for a Breach of Privilege, committed against Sir Robert Carr, a Member of this House, was read, acknowledging their Offence, and begging Pardon of the House.

And being called in; and, upon their Knees, at the Bar, having a Reprimand given them by the Speaker;

Resolved, &c. That the said Thomas Tompkins and Edward Clarke be discharged, paying their Fees.

Barnestaple Election.

A Petition of John Mayne was read, complaining of an undue Return made of Mr. Basset, to serve for the Borough of Barnestaple in the County of Devon, in Wrong of the Petitioner, who was duly elected.

Resolved, &c. That this Petition be referred to the Committee of Elections and Privileges, to examine the Matter, and report it, with their Opinions, to the House.

Bills sent from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Lowe and Sir John Francklyn;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down a Bill, intituled, An Act to enable the Right honourable the Lady Mary Mordant to make Sale of her Interest in the Manor of Blechingly, and divers Lands in the County of Surry, notwithstanding her Minority: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House: And have commanded us to acquaint you, That they have agreed with this House in the Amendments to the Bill for the Naturalization of Peter Renew, and others.

Resolutions on the King's Message.

The House then resumed the adjourned Debate upon the Message sent from his Majesty to this House.

Resolved, &c. That a Clause be added to the Bill for continuing the Additional Duty of Excise, to enable his Majesty to borrow Two hundred thousand Pounds, at Seven Pounds per Cent.

Resolved, &c. That the Thanks of this House be presented to his Majesty for laying before them his Majesty's Sense of the Posture of Affairs abroad; and to let his Majesty know, That, in order to his Majesty's Preparations, in Pursuance of the Address of this House, for the Safety of the Kingdom, they have provided a Security of Two hundred thousand Pounds; and that whatsoever of That Sum shall be expended accordingly, shall be by them reimbursed: And whensoever the Posture of his Majesty's Affairs shall require their Attendance in Parliament, they will be ready to aid and assist him, as the Nature of his Majesty's Affairs shall require.

Address thereon.

Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed to draw up an Address, pursuant to the said Vote of this House.

And it is referred to Sir Wm. Coventry, Sir Tho. Meeres, Mr. Secretary Coventry, Sir Tho. Lee, Colonel Byrch, Sir Cha. Harbord, Mr. Solicitor General, Sir John Birkenhead, Colonel Strode, Lord Cavendish, Sir Tho. Littleton, Sir Hen. Capell, Mr. Secretary Williamson, Mr. Vaughan, Sir Tho. Clargis, Mr. Buscowen, Sir Robert Carr, Sir John Ernle, Lord O Brian, Sir John Hotham, Mr. Powell, Mr. Sawyer, Sir Robert Thomas, Sir John Trevor, Mr. Hopkins, Sir John Mallett; or any Five of them: And they are to meet at Six of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to prepare and draw up the Clause to be added to the Bill for continuing the additional Excise, to enable his Majesty to borrow Two hundred thousand Pounds, at Seven Pounds per Cent.

Supply Bill; building Ships.

The Amendments, sent from the Lords, to the Bill for raising the Sum of Five hundred Eighty-four thousand Nine hundred Seventy-eight Pounds Two Shillings Twopence Halfpeny, for the speedy Building of Thirty Ships of War, were read.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth not agree to the said Amendments.

Ordered, That it be referred to those Members that did attend, and manage the Conference with the Lords, to prepare and draw up Reasons to be offered at a Conference to be had with the Lords: And that Sir Richard Temple be added to them.
