Privilege.

Information being given to the House, that Thomas Lund, the menial Servant of Sir Lewis Palmer, a Member of this House, was arrested, and detained Prisoner in the Poultry Compter, London;

And Sir Lewis Palmer standing up in his Place; and affirming, that the said Thomas Lund was his menial Servant;

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue out his Warrant to the Keeper of the Poultry Compter, for the Discharge of the said Thomas Lund the menial Servant of Sir Lewis Palmer, a Member of this House.

Grlevances.

The House then, according to the Order of the Twentieth of this instant February, resolved into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of Grievances.

Lord Maynard's Estate.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edward Low and Sir Miles Cooke;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have here sent you a Bill, intituled, An Act for rectifying a Mistake in a general Settlement of the Lord Maynard's Estate, upon the Marriage of his Son; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Grievances.

-The House then resolved again into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of Grievances.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Mr. Sawyer took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Sawyer reports from the Committee of the whole House, That they had agreed Two Votes to be reported to the House: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were again read; and are as followeth; viz.

That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the extraordinary Power and Jurisdiction of the High Court of Chancery, and other Courts of Equity, in Matters determinable at the Common Law, is grievous to the Subject.

That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the House be moved, to appoint a Committee to bring in a Bill or Bills for redressing and regulating all extraordinary Power and Jurisdiction exercised by the High Court of Chancery, and other Courts of Equity, in Matters determinable at the Common Law.

And he humbly moved from the said Committee, That the House would resolve again into a Committee of the whole House, on Thursday Morning next, to consider of Grievances, at Ten of the Clock.

The first of the said Two Votes or Resolves of the said Committee of the whole House being again read;

The Question being put, That this House doth agree with the Committee in the said Vote;

A Motion being made for an Amendment therein, by taking away the Word "of," next after the Word "Jurisdiction," and inserting the Words " exercised by," instead thereof; It was, upon the Question, agreed to be amended accordingly.

The Question being put, That this House doth agree with the Committee in the said Vote so amended;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That the extraordinary Power and Jurisdiction, exercised by the High Court of Chancery, and other Courts of Equity, in Matters determinable at the Common Law, is grievous to the Subject.

The latter of the said Votes being again also read, was, upon the Question, agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the said Committee of the whole House, That a Committee be appointed, to bring in a Bill or Bills for redressing and regulating all extraordinary Power and Jurisdiction exercised by the High Court of Chancery and other Courts of Equity, in Matters determinable at the Common Law:

And it is referred to Sir Francis Winnington, Mr. Serjeant Maynard, Mr. Williams, Sir Tho. Lee, Sir Thom. Meres, Mr. Sacheverell, Col. Titus, Mr. Crowch, Mr. Mallett, Sir Edward Deering, Mr. Sawyer, Mr. Serjeant Rigby, Sir John Otway, Mr. Westfaling, Mr. Whorwood, Mr. Powle, Mr. Eyres, Sir John Mallett, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Finch, and all the Gentlemen of this House of the Long Robe, or any Three of them, to prepare and bring in the said Bill or Bills accordingly.

Committees.

Resolved, &c. That all Committees which were appointed to sit this Afternoon, be adjourned till Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, on Monday next, to sit in the Places formerly appointed.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Eight of the Clock.
