Prayers.

DAvid Loggan did this Day take the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, in order to his Naturalization: And the Certificate of his having received the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper being perused and allowed by Mr. Speaker;

Ordered, That the Name of David Loggan be inserted into the Bill for Naturalization.

Lindsey Level.

Ordered, That all the Members that serve for the Counties of Norfolk, Suffolke, Somersett, and Wilts, be added to the Committee to whom the Bill for Draining the Fens of Lindsey Level, stands committed.

Deane Forest.

Ordered, That Sir Nich. Carew, Mr. Hampden, Sir Tho. Lee, Capt. Jones, Mr. Child, Mr. Powle, Mr. Sacheverall, Sir Tho. Littleton, Colonel Sands, Mr. Papillon, be added to the Committee to whom the Bill for the Preservation of Wood in the Forest of Deane, stands committed.

Sir R. Ashton's Petition.

A Petition of Sir Ralph Ashton was read: And it being doubtful whether the same be preferred within the Time limited by the Order of the House;

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of Elections and Privileges; to examine, whether the said Petition be preferred within the Time limited by the Order of the House; and report the Matter to the House.

Latham's Petition.

Recovery of Tythes.

Sir Edward Deering reports the Bill from the Committee for Repair of Churches, and Recovery of small Tythes, several Amendments, agreed by the said Committee to be made to the Bill, which, upon an Amendment made at the Table, were, upon the Question, severally agreed.

And, some further Amendments being offered to the Bill;

Resolved, &c. That the further Consideration of the said Amendments be adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Ten of the Clock.

Northern Borders.

A Bill to prevent Theft and Rapine upon the Northern Borders, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed, upon the Debates of the House, to Sir John Lowther, Sir Wm. Lowther, Sir John Hotham, Mr. Collingwood, Sir Wm. Coventry, Lord Ancram, Sir Anth. Irby, Sir Eliab Harvey, Mr. Serjeant Rigby, Mr. Newport, Lord Morpeth, Col. Birch, Sir John Otway, Sir Wm. Francklyn, Mr. Chetwyn, Lord O'Bryan, Mr. Sacheverell, Mr. Stockdale, Sir Edm. Jenings, Mr. May, Sir Chr. Musgrave, Sir Geo. Downeing, Colonel Strangwayes, Sir Wm. Blackett, Mr. Westfaling, Sir John Werden, Sir John Talbott, Sir John Frederick, Mr. Strangwayes, Sir Hen. Conference desired with Lords.

Ordered, That Sir Leoline Jenkins do go up to the Lords to desire a Conference upon the Subject Matter of their Answer to the last Message of this House, in the Case of Mr. Onslowe.

Ordered, That it be referred to Mr. Sacheverall, Mr. Powle, Sir Edw. Bainton, Sir Cha. Harbord, Mr. Hampden, Sir Fr. Drake, Mr. Garraway, Sir Tho. Meres, Sir Tho. Littleton, Mr. Streete, Colonel Titus, Sir Tho. Lee, Sir Elyab Harvey, or any Three of them, to inspect the Journals of the Lords House, and see what Proceedings have been in the Case wherein Mr. Dalmahoy is concerned; and in the Case wherein Mr. Onslowe is concerned, since the last Report; and to report it to the House.

Hearth Money.

Resolved, &c. That this House will, on Wednesday Morning next, proceed in the further Consideration of the remaining Amendments to the Bill for Regulating the Duty arising by Hearth Money.

Letter summoning Defaulters.

Sir Tho. Meres reports from the Committee appointed to prepare and draw up a Form of a Letter to be sent into the several Shires and Places where any Members are Defaulters in Attendance on the Service of this House, a Draught of a Letter agreed by the Committee: Which being read, and, upon the Question, agreed, is as followeth; viz.

THE House of Commons, having taken Notice of the Absence of several of their Members, and particularly of that serves for your Borough; I am commanded to acquaint you with it, that you may give Notice thereof to your said Member, to the end he may no longer neglect his Duty to this House, and the Performance of that Trust you have reposed in him, to the Prejudice of the Publick as well as your Interest: Against which Offence this House intends to proceed further with all Severity: And you are to give an Account of the Receipt, and of what you have done hereupon, unto

Duke of Lauderdale.

The House then resumed the adjourned Debate, touching his Majesty's Answer to the Address of this House concerning the Duke of Lauderdale.

The Question being put, That a further Address be presented to his Majesty, to remove the Duke of Lauderdale from all his Employments; and from his Presence and Councils, for ever; being a Person obnoxious and dangerous to the Government;

The House divided.

And so it was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee that prepared the last Address, to prepare and draw up this further Address, upon the Debates of the House.

Lords Answer to Message.

Sir Leoline Jenkins reports, That he had attended the Lords with the Message of this House, for a Conference upon the Subject Matter of the Lords Answer to the last Message of this House, in the Case of Mr. Onslowe; and that the Lords had sent Answer, that they would return Answer by Messengers of their own.

Conference on failing to attend former Conference.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Moundeford Brampston and Sir William Beversham;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have commanded us to acquaint you, that they desire a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, with the House of Commons, upon their not coming to the Conference desired by them on Thursday last; and by the Lords appointed to be at Ten of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber, on Friday the Twenty-eighth of this instant May.

The Messengers being withdrawn; and the Message debated; and a present Conference, upon the Question, agreed; and the Messengers being called in, Mr. Speaker acquaints them, that the House had agreed to a present Conference.

Ordered, That the former Members, that were appointed to manage the former Conference, in the Case of Mr. Onslowe, do attend and manage this Conference.

Sir John Trever reports from the Conference, That the Lords had declared the Intent of the Conference, to the Effect following; viz.

That the Lords have appointed this Conference, out of that constant Desire and Resolution they have to continue a fair Correspondence between the Two Houses; which is of the Essence of Parliamentary Proceedings.

For this End their Lordships have commanded us to tell you, that they cannot but take Notice of the House of Commons failing to be on Friday last at a Conference, desired by themselves, and appointed by the Lords, at Ten of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber:

That they conceive it tends to an Interruption of all Parliamentary Proceedings; and to evade the Right of the Lords, to appoint Time and Place for a Conference.

Ordered, That it be referred to the former Committee, who are appointed to draw up Reasons, to be offered at a Conference to be had with the Lords, upon the Subject Matter of their Answer to the Message of this House, in the Case of Mr. Onslowe, to consider of the Matter delivered by the Lords at the last Conference; and to prepare and draw up further Reasons to be offered at another Conference to be had with the Lords, upon the Subject Matter of the last Conference: And that the Committee do meet this Afternoon, at Five of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber: And Mr. Serjeant Maynard and Mr. Sawyer are to have Notice to attend the same.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees which are appointed to sit this Day, be adjourned till To-morrow Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, except the Committee to whom it is referred to draw up Reasons for a Conference with the Lords.
