Prayers.
Repairing Churches.
ORDERED, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill to make effectual Provision for keeping Churches in Repair.
Thefts and Robberies.
The House then resumed the Consideration of the remaining Amendments to the Bill for preventing Thefts and Robberies.
The Amendments touching Plate, Money, and Jewels, was read the Second time:
The Question being put, To agree to that Part of the Amendment;
It passed in the Negative.
The Clause, at the End of the Amendment, touching Robberies on the Lord's Day, was read the Second time:
The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in this Particular;
It passed in the Negative.
The next Amendment was read the Second time; and, upon the Question, rejected.
The next Amendment, for making Compositions for Robberies, was read the Second time: And the rest of the Amendments were read; and some rejected; and others, with some Alterations, agreed.
Resolved, That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.
Ordered, That it be referred to Sir Thomas Clergis, Sir Charles Harbord, Sir Lanc. Lake, and Mr. Buscawen, or any Two of them, to peruse the Bill and Amendments; and to see that they do cohere, and be rightly ingrossed.
Hearthmoney Tax.
Ordered, That the ingrossed Bill concerning Hearthmoney, be read To-morrow Morning.
Suppressing Conventicles.
Ordered, That the Bill for continuing the Act against Conventicles, be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.
Supply Bill; Wine Duties, &c.
The Bill for raising a Hundred thousand Pounds Supply for his Majesty, upon the Retailers of Wine and Brandy, was read the Second time.
Resolved, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House: And the Committee hath Power to consider how they may fix the whole Sum of Three hundred thousand Pound, with Interest, for the Advancement thereof, upon Wine; and to enlarge the Time of Eighteen Months in this Bill, if they think fit.
And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
