Prayers.

Religion.

A BILL for the Maintenance of the true Reformed Protestant Religion, and for the Suppression of Popery, Superstition, Profaneness, and other Disorders and Innovations in Worship and Ceremonies, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, ordered to be committed.

Resolved, That a Grand Committee of the whole House be appointed for Religion.

Resolved, That this Bill be referred to the said Grand Committee.

Resolved, That this House be resolved into a Grand Committee, for Matters of Religion, every Monday in every Week.

Resolved, That this Grand Committee be impowered to send for Persons, Papers, Witnesses, and Records, and what else may conduce to the Business.

Poll Bill Commissioners.

The House resumed the Consideration of Commissioners Names for the Poll Bill.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Leicester, and for the Borough of Leicester, was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Kent, and the Cinque Ports, was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the Town of Berwick upon Tweed was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Derby was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Oxford, and City of Oxford, was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Bedford was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Sussex was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Lyncolne was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That all Peers of the Realm be omitted out of the Lists of Commissioners Names for the Poll Bill.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Nottingham, and Town of Nottingham, was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Ordered, That the Commissioners above-named for the Poll Bill for the City of Oxford, be Commissioners in the Ordinance for Three Months Assessment, at Seventy-thousand Pounds per Mensem, for the said City; and that they be, and are hereby, impowered and authorized to sit and act as Commissioners, as fully, to all Intents and Purposes, as if they had been named Commissioners for the said City in the said Ordinance.

Ordered, That the Names of Commissioners for the Three Months Assessments for the County of Cardigan, be Commissioners for the said County in the Poll Bill.

Ordered, That the Names of the Commissioners for the Three Months Assessments for the County of Flint, be Commissioners for the said County in the Poll Bill.

A List of Commissioners Names for the Isle of Anglesey was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Carnarvon was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the East Riding in the County of Yorke was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the Town of Beverley in the County of Yorke was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the Town of Heydon in the County of Yorke was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A List of Commissioners Names for the County of Cumberland was read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That this Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Heydon Writ.

Sir John Clobery, being elected for the Borough of Launceston in the County of Cornewall, and also for the Borough of Heydon in the County of Yorke, elects to serve for the Borough of Launceston, and waves his Election for the Borough of Heydon.

Ordered, That a new Writ be issued for the Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Heydon in the County of Yorke, in the Room of Sir John Clobery, elected to serve for Launceston in the County of Cornwall; and that Mr. Speaker do grant his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, to issue forth a new Writ for the Purpose aforesaid; and that the Lord Chancellor of England do issue and pass the same under the Great Seal accordingly.

Pardon and Oblivion.

The House resumed the Debate upon the Bill of General Pardon and Oblivion.

A Proviso was tendered, that this Act do not extend to confirm any Orders of Indemnity, not relating to the War; which was read the First time, and, upon the Question rejected.

Another Proviso was tendered, for making void Judgments obtained against Officers and Soldiers of the late King's Army, where no Execution is taken out; which was read, and, upon the Question, rejected.

Another Proviso was tendered, touching a List, to be presented, of the Names of such Treasurers as should only be called to Account; which was read, and, upon the Question, rejected.

Another Proviso was tendered to this Bill, that it be exacted, that every Person who sat in Judgment as a Commissioner, or prosecuted, or pleaded as Attorney General, or Solicitor, to the late pretended Commonwealth, or Protector, in any High Court of Justice, since the 6th Day of December 1648, his Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, shall be liable to answer full Damages, &c.: Which was read the First time:

And the Question being put, That this Proviso be laid aside;
