Kirkby's Claims.

A BILL for Satisfaction of a just Debt due to Colonel Richard Kirkby by Henry Nevill Esquire, was read the Second time.

A Petition of Henry Nevill Esquire was also read.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be committed to Sir Lanc. Lake, Mr. Rigby, Sir Wm. Lowther, Sir Hen. Herbert, Sir John Birkinhead, Sir Anth. Irby, Mr. Mountague, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Solo. Swale, Sir John Brampston, Sir Tho. Tomkins, Sir Cliff. Clifton, Sir Tho. Bludworth, Colonel Gilby, Sir Tho. Allen, Sir Rich. Wiseman, Sir Capell Luckin, Colonel Sandys, Sir Edm. Pooley, Sir Robert Atkyns, Sir Roger Bradshaigh, Sir Wm. Tirringham, Mr. Herbert, Colonel Whitley, Mr. Seymour, Colonel Robinson, Sir Jeoffrey Shakerley, Sir John Heath, Lord Fanshaw, Mr. Musgrave, Dr. Rishton, Sir Robert Carr, Sir John Shaw: And they are to meet at Two of the Clock To-morrow, in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber: And to take the Petition of Mr. Nevill also into Consideration; and examine the Matter of Fact: And to summon and hear all Parties concerned: And to send for Persons, Papers, and Records.

Highway Laws.

Mr. Rigby reports from the Committee appointed to peruse the old Laws, and also the Acts lately made, concerning the Highways; and to see wherein they are defective; That the Committee had met, and agreed upon Two Votes; viz.

1. That this Committee can find no other Expedient reasonably to mend the Roads from London to Chester, but a Toll.

2. They humbly offer to continue the Charge of Sixpence per Pound till the next Session of Parliament.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in imposing a Toll for amending the High Road from London to Chester;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee to continue the Charge of Six-pence per Pound till the next Session of Parliament;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That it be re-committed to the former Committee, or any Four of them, to prepare and bring in a Bill, according to the Votes before-mentioned.

Ordered, That it be referred to the same Committee, to look into the former Act for amending the Highways; and to see. How far the same may be made practicable, and put in Execution; and to bring in a Bill, as they see Occasion, to put the same so far forth in Execution, as may be most effectual for the repairing and maintaining the Highways.

Supply Bill.

And then the House resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the further Consideration of the Bill for raising the King's Supply.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Robert Atkyns took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker again took the Chair.

Sir Robert Atkyns reports, from the said Committee, That the Committee coming to the Filling-up of the Blank in the Bill, as to the Sum for the County of Devon, and City of Exeter;

And the Question being put, That the Blank be filled up with the Sum of Three thousand Two hundred Sixtyone Pounds Six Shillings and Six-pence;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That the Committee of the whole House do proceed to the Finishing of the rest of the Bill for the King's Supply, leaving the Inserting of the Sums to the House.

And then the House resolved itself again into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed upon the said Bill.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Robert Atkyns took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker again took the Chair.

Sir Robert Atkyns reports from the said Committee, That they had made good Progress in the said Bill; and desired, that the House would resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, To-morrow Morning at Ten of the Clock, to make a further Progress therein.

Resolved, &c. That the House will resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, To-morrow Morning at Ten of the Clock, to proceed in the further Consideration for the King's Supply.
