Prayers.
Judicial Proceedings.
MR. Finch reports from the Committee, to whom it is referred to consider of settling judicial Proceedings in Courts of Justice, An Act for the Continuance of Process and judicial Proceedings; which was this Day read the first and second Time; and, upon the Question, committed to the same Committee that brought it in: And they are to sit this Afternoon.
Arrears of Assessment.
Mr. Annesley reports an Ordinance for quickening the bringing in the Arrears of the Assessment, and other the publick Revenue; which was this Day read the first and second Time; and, upon the Question, committed to Mr. Pryn, Sir John Northcot, Ld. President, Col. King, Mr. Finch, Mr. Turner, Serj. Hales, or any Three of them; who are presently to withdraw.
Secretary Thurloe.
Resolved, That Secretary Thurloe, being accused of High Treason, be secured: And that the Serjeant at Arms attending this House do forthwith put this Order in Execution.
Door locked.
The Question being put, That the Door be locked;
It passed with the Negative.
Privilege.
Ordered, That the Mayor of Chepping Wiccombe, being now in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, be discharged of his Imprisonment.
Secretary Thurloe.
Resolved, That the first Four, and the Three last, of those whose Names are taken, be the Committee, for to take the Examination of Mr. Secretary Thurloe; viz. That Col. King, the Ld. President Annesley, Mr. Pryn, Mr. Earneley, Col. Bowyer, Mr. Trevor, Mr. Weston, or any Three of them, be a Committee, to take the Examination of Mr. Secretary Thurloe, to the Accusation given against him; with Power to send for Persons, Papers, and Witnesses; and are to meet To-morrow, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Inner Court of Wards.
King's Reception.
Mr. Annesley reports from the Committee of the Council of State, appointed to consider of the Manner of the Reception of his Majesty, that Thomas Langhorne, Citizen and Skinner of London, is a fit Person to be employed to provide Robes of Ermins for his Majesty; he having the greatest Quantity, as the Committee is informed, of any Person in London for that Purpose; and that Alderman Vyner be appointed to provide the Crown and Sceptre, which, by Estimate, will amount unto the Sum of Nine hundred Pounds, or thereabouts.
Resolved, That Thomas Langhorne, Citizen and Skinner of London, be employed to provide Robes of Ermins for his Majesty.
Resolved, That Alderman Vyner be appointed to provide the Crown and Sceptre for the King's Majesty.
Ordered, That the Lords Concurrence be desired to these Votes.
Ordered, That the Lord President do carry these Votes to the Lords.
Regalia of late King.
Resolved, That Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Cornelius Holland, and Mr. Nicholas Love, do forthwith attend the Committee to whom it is referred to consider of Requisites for his Majesty's Reception; to give an Account, what is become of the Crowns, Robes, Sceptre, and Jewels, belonging to the King's Majesty: And that such other Robes or Sceptre, as have been provided at the publick Charge, be forthwith brought into the same Committee, by such Person or Persons as have them, or any of them in their Custody.
Pardon and Oblivion.
The House resumed the Debate upon the Bill for General Pardon, Indemnity, and Oblivion.
Attainder of Bradshawe.
Resolved, That John Bradshawe, deceased, late Serjeant at Law, be one of those that shall, by Act of Parliament, be attainted of High Treason, for the Murthering of the late King's Majesty.
Resolved, That the Attainder shall relate to the First Day of January 1648.
Attainder of Cromwell.
Resolved, That Oliver Cromwell, deceased, be one of those that shall, by Act of Parliament, be attainted of High Treason for the Murthering the late King's Majesty: And that the Attainder shall relate to the First Day of January 1648.
Attainder of Ireton.
Resolved, That Henry Ireton, deceased, be one of those that shall, by Act of Parliament, be attainted of High Treason, for the Murthering of the late King's Majesty: And that the Attainder shall relate to the First Day of January 1648.
Attainder of Pride.
Resolved, That Thomas Pride, deceased, be one of those that shall, by Act of Parliament, be attainted of High Treason, for the Murthering of the late King's Majesty: And that the Attainder shall relate to the First Day of January 1648.
Public Revenue.
Mr. Annesley reports from the Council of State, an Account of the State of the Warrants issued from the Council of State, for charging of the Revenue.
Resolved, That this Report touching the State of the Revenue, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, the first Business.
King's Houses.
Mr. Annesley also reports, the Estimate of the Charge for Repair of the King's Majesty's Houses.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to charge any part of the publick Revenue and Treasuries, for raising of such Money as shall be necessary to be provided for Repair of the King's Majesty's Houses, and for providing Requisites for his Majesty's Reception; the same not exceeding, in the Whole, the Sum of Thirty thousand Pounds.
That the Lords Concurrence be desired herein: And the Lord President is desired to carry it to the Lords.
Pardon and Oblivion.
Resolved, &c. That the Bill of General Pardon, Indemnity, and Oblivion, be committed to Lord Commissioner Terryll, Sir Anthony Irby, Mr. Pryn, Mr. John Stephens, Serj. The humble Petition of Dame Mary Hewytt, Widow, late Wife of John Hewytt, Dr. in Divinity, was read.
Message from Lords.
A Message from the Lords, by Doctor Child and Mr. Eltonhead, Two Masters of the Chancery;
Mr. Speaker, The Lords do agree to your Order, with these Alterations:-And thereupon delivered the Vote touching the raising Money for repairing of the King's Houses, &c.; which, with the said Alterations, was read.-
Lords agree to Orders.
Mr. Annesley reports, that the Lords do agree to the Orders concerning the King's Majesty's Robes, Crown, and Sceptre, &c.; and that, as touching the raising Money for Repair of the King's Houses, and providing Requisites for his Majesty's Reception, they will return Answer by Messengers of their own.-
Answer to Lords.
The Messengers were again called; and Mr. Speaker gave them this Answer;
Gentlemen, The House hath considered of your Message, and Amendments, that you brought from the Lords; and they will return Answer by Messengers of their own.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee appointed to prepare Bills, to prepare an Ordinance for bringing in Monies for Repair of his Majesty's Houses, and making Provisions for his Majesty's Reception.
King's Houses.
Resolved, That it be referred to the Council of State, to proceed to give their Order for the charging of any of the Treasuries, within their Power, for the raising of such Monies as shall be necessary for Repair of his Majesty's Houses, and for providing Requisites for his Majesty's Reception.
Thirske Writ.
Mr. Wm. Stanley, being elected to serve as Burgess in this present Parliament for the Borough of Liverpoole in the County of Lancaster, and also as Burgess for the Borough of Thirske in the County of Yorke, makes Choice to serve for the Borough of Liverpoole, and waves his Election for the Borough of Thirske aforesaid.
Ordered, That a new Writ be issued for the Election of one Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Thirske aforesaid; and that Mr. Speaker do send his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, for the Issuing of a new Writ for the Election of a Burgess to serve in Parliament for the said Borough: And that the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal, or any Two of them, are hereby required to issue out and pass the same under the Great Seal accordingly.
Bossiny Writ.
Mr. Charles Pym, being elected to serve as Burgess in this present Parliament for the Borough of Minehead in the County of Somerset, and also as Burgess for the Borough of Bossiny in the County of Cornwall, makes Choice to serve for the Borough of Minehead, and waves his Election for the Borough of Bossiny aforesaid.
