Prayers.

Restoring Ld. Arundell.

A BILL, sent from the Lords, for restoring Henry Lord Arundell of Wardor, to the Possession of his Estate, was this Day read the First time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be read the Second time on Tuesday next.

Micklethwayt's Estate.

Ordered, That the Bill for enabling Mr. Micklethwayt to sell Lands for Payment of Debts, and raising Portions, be read the Second time on Monday Morning next.

Langhorne's Claim.

The humble Petition of Rowland Langhorne Esquire, was this Day read.

Resolved, That the Demands of Rowland Langhorne Esquire, for the Arrears mentioned in his Petition, shall, in due time, be taken into Consideration; and that, for his present Supply, and towards Satisfaction of the said Arrears, the Sum of Three thousand Pounds be charged on the Receipts arising by the Excise of foreign Commodities imported, and paid to the said Rowland Langhorne, or his Assigns, in Course, after the other Sums shall be satisfied, which, by former Orders of this Parliament, are charged on the Receipt of Excise: And the Commissioners of Excise are impowered and required to pay the same accordingly: And this Order, together with the Acquittance of the said Rowland Langhorne, or his Assigns, testifying his Receipt thereof, shall be to the said Commissioners a sufficient Warrant and Discharge.

Resolved, That the Lords Concurrence be desired herein: And Captain Tytus is to carry it to the Lords.

Norfolke Dukedom.

A Message from the Lords, by Mr. Glascocke and * * Masters of Chancery;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have commanded us to present this Bill to this House; being for Restitution of Thomas Earl of Arundell, Surrey, and Norfolke, to the Dignity and Title of Duke of Norfolke: Wherein they desire the Concurrence of this House.

A Bill for Restitution of Thomas Earl of Arundell, Surry, and Norfolke, to the Dignity and Title of Duke of Norfolke, was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That this Bill be read the Second time on Tuesday Morning next.

Newton's Estate.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bill for enabling John Newton to sell Lands for Payment of Debts, be read on Monday Morning next.

Smuggling.

Sir George Downing reports from the Committee to whom the Petition of Christopher Metcalfe, Surveyor General of his Majesty's Customs, was referred, the State of Fact, as to the Proceedings of several Persons, called Smugglers, in conveying away secretly several Goods, to the defrauding of his Majesty of his Customs; and in resisting his Majesty's Officers in doing their Duties touching the said Goods.

Resolved, That it be referred back to the same Committee, to prepare such Remedies, as they shall think fit, for preventing the like Inconveniences for the future; and for the making of his Majesty's Revenue by the Customs more certain and settled; and to consider of a Bill in the Hands of Sir Wm. Vincent, prepared for that Purpose; and to report the same to the House.

Ordered, That his Majesty's Counsel learned be desired to take notice of this Riot; and to take effectual Order that the Rioters be proceeded with in the King's Bench, and in the Court of Exchequer, according to Law.

Resolved, That Mr. Hollis, Sir Wm. Lewes, Sir George Downing, and Mr. Hide, be desired to repair forthwith to the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench; and communicate to him the Nature of the Proceedings represented this Day to the House, to the great Prejudice of his Majesty's Customs; and to desire his Lordship's special Care, that Justice may be done upon the Offenders: As also, to the Lord Chief Baron; and to desire his Lordship's Care, that his Majesty's Duties for Customs be duly answered; and such as shall imbezzle the same, to be effectually proceeded against; and that the Goods in Question be not restored.

Publick Debts.

Ordered, That Sir William Penn be added to the Committee for publick Debts.

Ecclesiastical Affairs.

The Question being put, That the Committee to whom it was referred to prepare a Bill upon his Majesty's Declaration concerning Ecclesiastical Affairs, do bring in the Bill on Tuesday next;

The House was divided:

So it passed in the Negative.

Langhorne's Claim.

Captain Tytus reports, that he went to the Lords House with the Order of this Day, concerning Rowland Langhorne Esquire; but found their Lordships engaged in a Debate:

Ordered, That Captain Titus do carry the said Order to the Lords on Tuesday next.

Resolved, That the Committee to whom it is referred to prepare a Bill upon his Majesty's Declaration concerning Ecclesiastical Affairs, do bring in the Bill on Wednesday Morning next.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Bennet and * *, Two Masters of the Chancery;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have commanded us to bring you Two Bills: One, for the Naturalizing of Francis Astley, Son of Isaack Astley Lord Astley, an Infant of the Age of Six Years, or thereabouts, born in Holland: The other, for Naturalizing of Renee de Sabran, an Infant of about Eight Years of Age: Wherein their Lordships desire the Concurrence of this House.

Wool, &c.

Mr. Shaw reports from the Committee, Amendments to the Bill for preventing the Exportation of Wool, Woolfells, Fullers Earth, &c.: Which he read in his Place; and were after read the First and Second time by the Clerk; and, on the Question, agreed.

Resolved, That this Bill, with the said Amendments, be ingrossed.
