Prayers.

Letter read.

A LETTER from Colonel John Disbrowe, of the 29th of December 1659, was read.

Council of State.

Mr. Love reports the Names of the Persons, Members of the Parliament, who had most Voices, to be of the Council of State: Viz. Sir Arthur Hesilrig, Colonel Herbert Morley, Mr. Wallop, Colonel Walton, Mr. Tho. Scot, Mr. Nicholas Love, Oliver St. John, Colonel White, John Weaver, Robert Reynolds, Sir James Harrington, Sir Thomas Widdrington, Colonel Thompson, John Divwell, Hen. Nevill, Colonel Fagg, John Corbett, Thomas Challener, Henry Martyn, Wm. Sey: And he reports that Mr. Raleigh and Mr. Robinson had equal Number of Voices.

Whereupon the Question being put, upon each of the aforesaid Names distinctly; It was

Resolved, That Sir Arthur Hesilrig be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Herbert Morley be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Wallop be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Colonel Walton be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Thomas Scot be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Nicholas Love be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Oliver St. John be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Colonel White be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That John Weaver be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Robert Reynolds be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Sir James Harrington be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Sir Tho. Widdrington be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Colonel Thompson be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. John Dixwell be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Henry Nevill be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Colonel Fagg be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. John Corbet be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Tho. Challenor be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Henry Martin be one of the Council of State.

Resolved, That Mr. Wm. Say be one of the Council of State.

And the said Mr. Carew Ralegh and Mr. Luke Robinson, having equal Number of Voices, their Names were written in several Papers; and, being put into a Hat, and shaken together, Mr. Speaker drew out the Name of Mr. Luke Robinson.

Resolved, That Luke Robinson be one of the Council of State.

Indemifying Soldiers.

Resolved, That the Bill for Indemnity of the Soldiery formerly ordered to be brought in, be now read.

Mr. Say reports, A Bill for indemnifying the Soldiers: Which was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That this Bill be read the Second time on Monday Morning, the first Business.

Resolved, That the Bill for Indemnity shall extend to the Officers, as well as to the Soldiers, of the Army.

City of London.

Ordered, That Sir Arthur Hesilrig, Colonel Walton, Colonel Morley, Mr. Wallop, Mr. Lenthall, Mr. Reynolds, Sir James Harrington, Mr. Nevill, Mr. Weaver, Mr. Love, and Colonel Harvey, be appointed to confer with the Lord Mayor of London, and Court of Aldermen of the City of London, concerning the Safety of the City of London.

Ordered, That Alderman Atkins do acquaint the Lord Mayor, That the Parliament have appointed some of the Members of this House to confer with the Lord Mayor and Court of Aldermen, about the Safety of the City of London.

Army.

Ordered, That it be referred to Sir Arthur Hesilrig, Colonel Walton, and Colonel Morley, upon the present Emergency, to appoint Officers over the respective Regiments, for the Service of the Parliament, until the Parliament take further Order.

Council of State.

The House proceeded in Election of the Ten Persons, no Members of Parliament, to be of the Council of State.

Mr. Speaker appointed Colonel White, Colonel Feilder, Colonel Eyre, and Mr. West, to tell the Papers of Names of the Ten Persons, no Members of Parliament, to be of the Council of State.
