Prayers.

Petition from Spalding, &c.

THE humble Petition of the Lords Freeholders, Owners and Inhabitants of Spalding, Pinchbeck, Croyland, Markett-Deeping, St. James-Deeping, Uffington, Caswick, Barholme, Stowe, Tallington, and Baston, within the County of Lincolne, was this Day read; and ordered to be referred unto Mr. Hatcher, Colonel Rosseter, Mr. Solicitor-General, Sir Anthony Irby, Mr. Reading, Sir Walter Earle, Mr. Raliegh, Mr. Weaver, Major Juxon, Sir Thomas Willis, Mr. Manby, Colonel Morley, Sir Horace Townesend, Colonel Cooke, Lord Lambert, Colonel Alured, Mr. Meeres, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Whaly, Mr. Annesly, Mr. Secretary Thurloe, Mr. Attorney of the Duchy, Mr. Chute, Mr. Hele, Mr. Edm. Fowell, Mr. Clapham, Mr. Mussenden, Mr. Boscawen, Mr. Glynn, Mr. Edward Turnor, Colonel Scrope, Colonel Teryll, Mr. Oxborough, Mr. Goodrick, Mr. Hewly, Colonel Blake, Sir Wm. Doyley, Mr. Knightley, Sir Henry Felton, Mr. Bodwrda, and the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses for the County of Lincolne, and other Places within the said County: And this Committee are to examine and consider of the Matters complained of in the said Petition: And have Power to send for Persons, Papers, Witnesses, and Records: And to report their Opinion thereupon to the House: And are to meet about this Business, at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Exchequer-Chamber.

Return amended.

The House being informed, that the Deputy-Clerk of the Commonwealth in Chancery, and the Under Sheriff for the County of Southampton, were without at the Door; they were called in; and the Writ, and the Return for the Elections within the said County of Southampton, and the Indenture of the Election of Burgesses for the Borough of Yarmouth in the Isle of Wight, were, according to the Order in that Behalf made Yesterday, produced at the Bar: And, by the Command of the House, the Indenture of the Election of the Burgesses for the said Borough of Yarmouth was filed by the said Under-Sheriff to the Writ, and the Return of the Writ amended by him, standing at the Bar: And the said Indenture being made Part of the Return; the Return of the Writ, so amended, was read: And thereupon they withdrew.

Berealston; &c. Writs.

Mr. Serjeant Maynard, being chosen to serve as a Member of this present Parliament for the Borough of Newtowne in the County of Southampton, and for the Borough of Berealston, in the County of Devon, and also for the Borough of Camelford in the County of Cornewall, declared, That he made choice to serve for the Borough of Newtowne; and waved his Election for the Boroughs of Berealston and Camelford;

Resolved, &c. That a new Writ be issued, for the Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Berealston in the County of Devon: And that Mr. Speaker do send his Warrant to the Clerk of the Commonwealth in Chancery, for the issuing of a new Writ, for the Election of a Burgess to serve for the said Borough accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That a new Writ be issued for the Election of a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Camelford in the County of Cornewall: And that Mr. Speaker do send his Warrant to the Clerk of the Commonwealth in Chancery, for the Issuing of a new Writ, for the Election of a Burgess to serve for the said Borough, accordingly.

Omission in Writs.

The House being informed, that there was an Omission of a Clause, in the Writs issued this Parliament, for the Summoning and Electing of the Members to serve in this Parliament; which was in the Writs of Summons for former Parliaments; and that the Clause omitted was, "and the Church of England;"

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Committee of Elections and Privileges, to examine how this Clause, "and the Church of England," came to be left out of the Writs, for Election of Members to serve in this Parliament; and when that Clause was first left out of the Writs for Parliaments; and by what Order or Direction: And to report the same to the House.

Yarmouth, (I. of Wight) Writ.

Mr. Richard Lucy, being chosen to serve as a Member in this present Parliament, for the County of Warwick, and for the Borough of Yarmouth in the Isle of Wight within the County of Southampton, declared, That he made his Choice to serve for the County of Warwick; and waved his Election for Yarmouth;

Resolved, &c. That a new Writ be issued for the Election of a Burgess to serve for the Borough of Yarmouth in the Isle of Wight within the County of Southampton: And that Mr. Speaker do send his Warrant unto the Clerk of the Commonwealth in Chancery, for the Issuing of a new Writ, for the Election of a Burgess to serve for the said Borough, accordingly.

Respecting the Other House.

Resolved, &c. That the Debate had in the House this Day, That this House will transact with the Persons now sitting in the other House, as an House of Parliament, be adjourned until Friday Morning next, at Eight of the Clock.

Adjournment.

Resolved, &c. That this House be adjourned, at the Rising of the House, until Friday Morning next, at Eight of the Clock.

Committee for Grievances, &c.

Resolved, &c. That, notwithstanding the Adjournment of the House, the Grand Committee of the House for Grievances, and Courts of Justice, do sit To-morrow in the Forenoon, until Twelve of the Clock; and no longer.

Committees.

Resolved, &c. That, notwithstanding the Adjournment of the House, all other Committees do sit and meet, according to their several Appointments formerly made.

Leave of Absence.

Resolved, That Mr. William Duckett, one of the Members of this House, have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight.
