Thursday, the 17th of February, 1658.

Prayers.

Accompts from Treasury, &c.

ACCORDING to the Order made Yesterday, Mr. Sherwyn delivered in to the House, from the Commissioners of the Treasury, several States of Accompts of the Treasury, under their Survey and Jurisdiction: The Titles whereof were read; and were as followeth: viz.

1. A brief Declaration of Monies received, and of Monies paid, at the Receipt of his Highness' Exchequer, for One whole Year begun the Nine-and-twentieth Day of September 1656, exclusive, and ended the Nine-andtwentieth of September 1657, inclusive.

2. A brief Declaration of Monies received, and paid, at the Receipt of his Highness' Exchequer, for One whole Year, begun the Nine-and-twentieth of September 1657, exclusive, and ended the Nine-and-twentieth of September 1658, inclusive.

3. A Declaration of Monies received, and paid, at the Receipt of his Highness' Exchequer, from the Nine-andtwentieth of September last, 1658, exclusive, to the Nineand-twentieth Day of January following, inclusive.

4. January Thirtieth 1658, a Collection of Debts, charged upon the Receipt of his Highness' Exchequer.

5. January Thirtieth 1658, an Abstract of a more particular Accompt, herewith exhibited, of Monies received, and paid, at the Receipt of Exchequer, from the Nine-andtwentieth of September 1656, to the Nine-and-twentieth of January 1658, inclusive, with the Debt thereupon.

6. An Accompt of what Monies have been within the Management of the Committee for the Army, for and towards the Pay of the Forces in England, Scotland, and Ireland, and incident Charges thereof, and also of all Warrants, charged thereupon, from the Nine-and-twentieth of September 1656, to the Eight-and-twentieth of March 1659, exclusive.

7. An Accompt of the Arrears, due to the Officers and Soldiers, upon the Island of Jamaica, according to the Establishment of his Highness and Council for that Army; as appears by the last Musters, returned from thence, in December and February 1657.

8. February the Ninth 1658, A Particular of Debts owing, for the Service of Flanders.

9. Memorandums, concerning the Assessments.

10. Mr. Jervase Bennett, by like Order, delivered in to the House, from the Committee of the Army, a PaperBook, intituled, The State of the Establishment of the Forces in England.

11. Another Paper-Book, intituled, "An Establishment of the Forces in Scotland, commencing the Oneand-twentieth of December 1657, inclusive: The Titles of both which were also read.

12. Colonel Clerke, by like Order, delivered in to the House, from the Commissioners of the Navy and Admralty, a Paper, intituled, An Estimate of the Debts of the Navy, to the First of November 1658; as also of the Charge of the whole Navy for one Year, determining Primo Novembris 1656: The which Title was also read: And it was

Resolved, &c. That all the several Accounts and Papers above-mentioned be referred to a Committee.

Resolved, &c. That the Number of the Committee, to whom these Accompts and Papers shall be referred, shall be but Twelve: Viz. Mr. Peter Middleton, Colonel Birch, Sir Hen. Vane, Sir Jo. Carter, Mr. Scawen, Mr. Bampfeild, Colonel Thompson, Mr. Biddulph, Mr. Joseph Jackson, Mr. Scott, Major General Browne, Mr. Lambert Godfrey.

Resolved, &c. That these Papers and Accompts, delivered in from the Commissioners of the Revenue, the Committee of the Army, and the Commissioners of the Admiralty and Navy, be referred to this Committee: And that the Commissary General of the Musters do deliver in to this Committee, a Muster Roll of the Names of the present Commission Officers of the Army; and of the Numbers of the Soldiers under their Commands, respectively: And that the Officers and Commissioners of the Admiralty and Navy, do also deliver in, to this Committee, a List of the Navy, and of the Officers thereof, and of the Numbers of the Mariners, Seamen, and Soldiers, employed in the same; and how and where they are employed at the present: And this Committee, or any Five or more of them, are to consider thereof; and of the Numbers and Strength of the Armies and Forces by Land; and of the Numbers and Strength of the Navy and Forces by Sea; and how all the said Forces by Land and Sea are at the present disposed of: And they are further to consider of the Revenue of England, Scotland, and Ireland; how the same may be brought in with the least Charge; and how the Charge of the Forces by Sea and Land may be defrayed; and also what Monies is or hath been issued, for the Charge of the Government; and how to retrench and lessen the Charge of the Commonwealth, either in bringing in, or issuing out, of the Revenues thereof: And the Auditors, and other Officers under the Pay of the Commonwealth, are from time to time to give their Attendance on this Committee, as they shall be required, for the Carrying on of this Service; and to observe such Directions, as they shall receive from this Committee, concerning the same: And this Committee, or any Five or more of them, as aforesaid, are to meet about this Business, To-morrow in the Afternoon, in the Treasury Chamber, at Two of the Clock; and so from Day to Day: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, and Records.

Sweden and Denmarke.

Resolved, That an Account be given to this House of the State of Affairs, in relation to the Kings of Sweden and Denmarke, on Monday Morning next, the first Business; and that no other Business do then intervene.

Recognizing Protector's Title.

The House, according to the former Order, took into Consideration the additional Clauses, to be Part of the Bill, intituled, An Act of Recognition, &c.

Resolved, &c. That the Debate concerning the Negative Voice be proceeded in To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock: and that nothing else do then intervene.
