Tuesday, the 16th of June, 1657.

Confirming Acts.

A BILL for Confirmation of divers Acts and Ordinances was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, That a Clause be brought in, ingrossed in Parchment, for confirming one Act made the Fourth of November 1653, intituled, An Act for Redress of Delays and Mischiefs arising by Writs of Error, and Writs of false Judgment, in several Cases; and one Act, made the Second of August 1653, intituled, An Act for taking away Fines upon Bills, Declarations, and original Writs; to be added to this Bill; and offered for that Purpose, when it is read the Third time: And that Sir Lislebone *, Mr. Fowell, Mr. Westlake, do bring it in.

Resolved, That this Clause, viz. "That the Orders of Parliament, or either House of Parliament, begun at Westminster the Third of November 1640, for the Granting or Setting-forth Land, upon Oath, to Sir Charles Coote, Lieutenant General Michaell Jones, Sir John Reynolds, Colonel Jerome Sanchy, Sir George Ayscough, Dr. Henry Jones, the Relict of Sir Symon Harecourt, and the Relict of Colonel Benjamin Blundell, shall be, and are hereby, declared to stand in Force to all Intents and Purposes;" be inserted into this Bill.

Resolved, That the Commissioners who are appointed to put in Execution an Ordinance for impowering the Commissioners for managing the Estates under Sequestrations, to proceed upon an Order of Parliament, of June 1649, touching divers Engagers in Yorkshire, shall make no additional Rate or Assessment, until a Week after the next Meeting of the Parliament.

Northern Borders.

Resolved, That a Clause be brought in, to be added to the Bill for Suppressing of Theft in the Borders of England and Scotland, for the more effectual Discovery and Prosecution of Thieves and Highwaymen.

Ordered, That these Words be inserted into this Bill; viz. "and one Act, made the One-and-twentieth Day of December 1649, intituled, An Act for discharging from Imprisonment poor Prisoners, unable to satisfy their Creditors; and also an Act, made the 6th Day of April 1650, intituled, An additional Act for the further Ease and Relief of poor Prisoners; be and are hereby revived, and continued in Force for Twelve Months, from the 24th Day of June 1657, as to such Persons that are or shall be in Prison within that time."

The Question being put, That this Bill be committed;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That this Bill be ingrossed.

Excise.

Mr. Fowell reports from the Committee to whom the Bill for Excise was committed, Amendments to the said Bill: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed.

The Question being put, That the Words in the Sixth Folio, viz. "the 25th Day of March next," shall stand;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the Words "the 24th of June 1657," be added instead thereof.

The Question being put, That the Words in the Sixth Leaf, Fol..... * * * *

Resolved, That, instead of "the 25th of March," for the Beginning of the Rates, the Words "the 24th of June 1657," be inserted in the several Places in this Bill: And that Mr. Fowell, Captain Baines, and Mr. Noell, do see the same so amended, accordingly.

Resolved, That this Bill, thus amended, shall be ingrossed.

Publick Revenue.

Mr. Bampfeild reports from the Committee for inspecting the Treasuries of England, Scotland, and Ireland, An Accompt of the Estimate of the Revenue in several Votes of that Committee: Which was now read.

RESOLVED, That the Debate upon the Report from the Committee for inspecting the Treasuries of England, Scotland, and Ireland, be adjourned till Tomorrow Morning, at Eight of the Clock.

Bill of Indemnity.

Resolved, That Major-General Whalley, Major-General Bridges, Alderman Foote, Mr. West, Mr. Stewart, Mr. Moody, Mr. Poole, Mr. Bennett, Sir Samuel Sleigh, Mr. Beomount, be added to the Committee for the Bill for Indemnity.

Customs.

Resolved, That the House be now resolved into a Grand Committee, upon the Bill for the Customs: And if there be Time, That afterwards the Grand Committee also upon the Bill for Assessments do sit.
