Prayers.

Sheriffs Names.

ORDERED, That the Names of the Sheriffs of the several Counties of Oxon and Bucks, whose Christian Names were mistaken, be amended; and that John Dormer be made Robert Dormer, and John Loggins be made Robert Loggins; and that the Journal Book be so amended, accordingly.

Lady Haughton's, &c. Petition.

The humble Petition of the Lady Sarah Haughton, Lady Elizabeth Darcy, and of Arthure and Alexander Stanhope Esquires, Children of Philip Earl of Chesterfield, was this Day read.

The Question being put, That Preemption, without Waste, be granted to the Petitioners, as is desired;

It passed with the Negative.

Sheriff of Lancashire.

Ordered, That the Chancellor of the Dutchy of Lancaster do grant a Patent, under the County Palatine Seal, to Alexander Barlow, of Barlow, Esq; nominated and appointed Sheriff of Lancashire for the Year ensuing, to be Sheriff of the said County, accordingly.

Council of State.

The House, according to former Order, took into Consideration the Instructions to be given to the Council of State.

The first Instruction being read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The Second Instruction being read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The Third Instruction being read;

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "and for the Prosecuting of the War in Scotland for the Perfecting of that Work," be added in this Instruction.

And the said Instruction, so amended, being put to the Question, was agreed unto.

The Fourth Instruction being read;

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "forth for the Good and Service of the Commonwealth;" be added in this Instruction.

The Fifth Instruction being read;

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "this Commonwealth;" be added to this Instruction.

The said Instruction, so amended, being put to the Question, was agreed unto.

The Sixth Instruction being read;

Resolved, That the Word, "Commonwealth," be put instead of "Nation."

And the said Instruction, so amended, being put to the Question, was agreed unto.

The Seventh Instruction being read, upon the Question, was agreed unto.

The Eighth Instruction being read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The Ninth Instruction being read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The Tenth Instruction being read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The Eleventh Instruction being read;

Resolved, That these Words, viz. "any Person or Persons," be added in this Instruction next after the Word "Imprison."

The said Instruction, so amended, being put to the Question, was agreed unto.

The Twelfth Instruction being read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to prepare an Instruction upon the Debate now had in the House, for a Book to be kept of all Warrants by the Council of State to the respective Treasurers for Payment of Monies; and to be yearly presented to the Parliament, and kept amongst the Records here, for the better Information of the Parliament, from time to time, touching the Revenue, and the disposing thereof; and report the same to the House To-morrow Morning.
