Excise.
ORDERED, That the Bill touching the Excise, be brought in, and read, on Wednesday Morning next, the first Business; and nothing to intervene.
Sale of Forests.
The House proceeded in the Debate upon the Bill for De-afforestation, Sale, and Improvement, of the Forests, &c.
Resolved, That the Salary of Two hundred Pounds by the Year to the Treasurers shall stand.
A Clause was tendered to be added unto this Bill, in the 51 Line of the First Press, after the Word "one," in these Words; "other than by Virtue or in Right of the Custody of the said Forests, or any of them, or any Office belonging to any of the said Forests; the Exercise whereof is now ceased, or which, by Virtue of this Act, or any thing therein contained, shall cease to be of further Use:" Which was read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, agreed: And ordered to be Part of the Bill.
The Question being put, That the Clause, in the 21th Line of the 11th Folio, beginning with the Words "And if," and ending with the Word "respectively," in the 4th Line of the 12th Folio, shall stand in the Bill;
It passed in the Negative.
The Question being put, That the First Day of Payment for the first Hundred thousand Pounds, being the First of December next, shall stand as it is in the Bill;
The House was divided.

Resolved, That the First Day of Payment for the first Hundred thousand Pounds, shall be the First Day of January.
A Clause was tendered to this Bill, in these Words; "And be it further Enacted, by the Authority aforesaid, That from and after the Satisfaction of the said Four hundred thousand Pounds, secured by this Act, the Sum of Three thousand Four hundred and Thirty Pounds, which, by a Vote of Parliament, of the 6th of April 1653, is acknowledged to be due to Richard Piggott, Citizen and Grocer of London, as Publick Faith, shall be satisfied unto the said Richard Piggott, his Heirs and Assigns, out of the Remainder of the Forest Lands hereby vested in the said Trustees; and shall be allowed as doubled Money in the Purchase of any Part of the Remainder of the said Lands: And the said Trustees are hereby authorized and impowered to contract with, and convey the same unto, the said Richard Piggott, his Heirs and Assigns, accordingly:" Which was once read; and, by Leave of the House, was withdrawn.-

A Letter from his Excellency the Lord General Cromwell, dated 21th October 1653, directed for the honourable the Speaker of the Parliament, was this Day read.
Sale of Forests.
A Clause was tendered to this Bill, to be inserted in the 12th Line of the last Press, after the Word "Prince," in these Words, "and of the Brigade of Foot raised within the County of Chester, for the late Engagement at Worcester:" Which was read the First time.
