Wednesday, the 26th of October, 1653.

Writs of Error.

AN Act, intituled, An Act for Reviving of an Act of Parliament, intituled, An Act for Redress of Delays and Mischiefs arising by Writs of Error, in several Cases, was this Day read the First and Second time.

Resolved, That the Time of Continuance of this Bill shall be till the 26th of October 1656.

Resolved, That the Blank in the 8 and 9 Line of the Bill be filled up with "the last of April 1653.

The Question being put, That these Words in the Bill, "within Days after the Beginning of the Term commonly called Michaelmas Term, now next ensuing," do stand;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That instead thereof, these Words be inserted; viz. "from and after the tenth Day of November 1653."

Ordered, That Mr. Broughton and Mr. St. Nicholas do withdraw; and, upon the Debate of the House, bring in a Clause to be added to this Bill.

Ld. St. John.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Lord St. John, from the Committee for Obstructions, be reported within Ten Days: And that Sir William Roberts do bring it in accordingly.

Sale of Forests.

The Bill, intituled, An Act for the De-afforestation, Sale, and Improvement of the Forests, and the Honours, Manors, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments within the usual Limits and Perambulations of the same, heretofore belonging to the late King, Queen, and Prince, was this Day read the Second time.

Sir Wm. Roberts reports from the Committee for bringing in the Bill for Sale of Forests Lands, as the Opinion of that Committee, That the Lady Leech be admitted to double the Sum of Two thousand Pounds upon the Act for Sale of Forest-Lands; and that the Lady Leech's Two thousand Pounds, charged on the Forest of Deane, be, on the Doubling of the aforesaid Sum, admitted as Publick Faith.

The Question being put, That this House doth agree with the Committee in this Report;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That this Bill be committed to the Members of this House, that are of the Committee that brought in the Bill; and that Mr. St. Nicholas, Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper, Mr. Brewster, Mr. Crofts, Mr. Carew, Colonel West, Mr. Anlaby, be added to that Committee for this Purpose: With Power to send for Persons, Papers, Records; and to advise with any Persons they shall think fit, for the better managing of this Business: And the Committee are to meet at Whitehall, at the Committee of Inspections, at Two of Clock this Afternoon.

Embassy from Sweden.

The House being informed, That the Lord Lagerfeldt, Publick Minister from the Queen of Sweeden, did attend in the Court of Wards, to take his Leave of the Parliament;

Ordered, That Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Strickland, Colonel Blount, Captain Cust, Colonel Cromwell, Mr. Highland, Colonel Jones, Alderman Titchborne, Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper, Major-General Desborow, Mr. Sadler, be a Committee to receive and give Audience to the said Lord Lagerfeldt, upon his taking his Leave.

Soliciting for Offices.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought it, to make those Persons incapable of Places, who shall solicit for them: And that Mr. Wingfield do bring in the same; together with a Bill for the Regulating of Fees, in Courts of Justice.

Valentine's Petition.

The humble Petition of Mathias Valentine, Son of Benjamine Valentine Esquire, lately deceased, was this Day read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee to whom the Bill for Sale of Forest Lands is committed.

Embassy from Sweden.

Mr. Strickland reports from the Committee appointed to receive and give Audience to the Lord Legerfeldt, Public Minister of the Queen of Sweden, that the said Lord Lacherfeldt did make a Discourse unto them, in Latin; a Copy whereof he delivered both in Latin and English, together with a Letter from the Queen of Sweden, directed thus: Parliamento Reipublicæ Angliæ.

Copies aforesaid were now read.

Navy.

Resolved, That Mr. Carew do make the Report from the Commissioners for the Navy and Admiralty.
