Tuesday, the 12th of October, 1652.

Prayers.

Correspondence with Denmark.

Mr. Speaker, by way of Report, acquaints the House, That he had received a Letter from the Lords Ambassadors Extraordinary from the King of Denmark, directed to the Parliament of the Commonwealth of England, dated from London, the 11th Day of October 1652: Which Letter was this Day read.

Ordered, That the Council of State be enjoined, on Thursday Morning next, to make Report to the Parliament, of the whole Proceedings between them and the Lords Ambassadors Extraordinary of the King of Denmark.

Scotch Affairs.

Ordered, That Mr. Robert Goodwin and Mr. Henry Darley, be added to the Committee, who are to meet with the Deputies come from Scotland.

Ordered, That Mr. Sey be added to the same Committee.

Ordered, That the Quorum of that Committee be Five, and that That Committee do meet de die in diem.

Comm rs for Obstructions.

An Act for further impowering the Commissioners for removing Obstructions, to hear and determine Claims, was this Day read, the First and Second time.

Resolved, That these Words be added to this Act; viz. "And be it further Enacted, That all such Reports of particular Cases, as, by the late Committees of Parliament for Obstructions, were ordered to be made to the Parliament, together with the Depositions and Papers concerning the same, be transferred to the said Commissioners; who are hereby authorized and impowered to hear and determine the same; as also to hear and determine all such Cases, as, by the said Commissioners, have been ordered, or as are appointed, to be reported to the Parliament."

And the Act, so amended, was, upon the Question passed; and ordered to be forthwith printed and published.

Forfeited Estates.

A Bill for allowing of the Claims of Copyholders and Leaseholders of several Lands and Estates forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason, was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Say, Mr. Corbett, Mr. Long, Major-General Harrison, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Ellis, Sir Tho. Witherington, Major Salwey, Sir John Trevor, Mr. Holland, Colonel Harvey, Mr. Scott, Mr. Attorney-General, Mr. Cawley, Mr. Carew, Sir John Danvers, Mr. Strickland, Mr. Garland, Colonel Bossevile, or any Five of them: And all that come to have Voices: And are to meet this Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber, and so de die in diem.

Ly. Wallop's Estate.

Mr. Hussey reports Amendments to the Act for makeing void the Jointure of the Lady Ann Wallop, now Wife of Robert Wallop Esquire, and Settling other Lands on her, in lieu of the same: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the Question being put, That this Act, so amended, be ingrossed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the said Act, so amended, being put to the Question, passed.

Poor.

An Act for the further Providing for, and Setting on Work, the Poor in this Commonwealth, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee for the Poor: And that Sir Thomas Widdrington, and Mr. Ellis, do take care of it.

Adjournment.

Resolved, That Mr. Speaker do, at the Rising of the House, adjourn the House until Thursday Morning next, at Eight of Clock.

Royalties of Westminster.

Ordered, That the Royalties of Westminster, heretofore belonging to the late Dean and Chapter at Westminster, and all Rents, Profits, and Advantages arising, or which shall or may arise, out of the same, be from henceforth employed and applied for a Stock, for setting on Work the Poor of Margarett's Westminster, and for carrying on of that Work, to be paid to such Person or Persons, and to be disbursed by them, in such sort, as the Justices of Peace for the said City, and the Liberties thereof, or any Five of them, shall, from time to time, direct and order, until the Parliament shall take further Order:

And that the Governors of the School and Alms-house of Westminster be impowered to appoint and displace, from time to time, all and every the Officers belonging to the said Royalties, in such sort, as the late Dean and Chapter, or their Steward, might do; and to make them such fitting Allowances for Execution of the said Places, as they shall think fit; the said Officer and Officers paying the Overplus, as aforesaid; and to call such Officer and Officers to an Account for the said Profits, from time to time; and to cause the same, upon Complaint made of any Default therein, to be paid and employed according to the Order of the said Justices, for the setting the said Poor on Work, and defraying the Charges thereof.

Charges against Seabright.

Ordered, That the Business touching the Charge of Delinquency, and likewise the Charge of Bribery, against Sir Edward Seabright, be referred to the Commissioners for Compounding; who are hereby authorized to hear and determine the same; and all further Proceedings against him, in the mean time, are stayed.

The House, according to former Order, adjourned itself to Thursday Morning next, Eight of Clock.
