Wednesday, the 16th of June, 1652

Prayers.

Army Committee, &c.

RESOLVED, That the former Committee for the Army be continued.

Resolved, That the former Treasurers at War be continued; and that an Act be brought in for that Purpose.

An Act for the Continuance of the Committee of the Army, and Treasurers at War, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the Committee of the Army; and ordered to be brought in To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Assessments.

A Draught of a Letter, to be signed by Mr. Speaker, and sent into the several Counties to the Commissioners for Assessments, was this Day read, and agreed to.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Army do prepare the Letters; and that Mr. Speaker be impowered to sign the same: And that the Committee for the Army do take care the same be sent, accordingly.

Ordered, That the Act touching the Collectors and Receivers of the Assessments be brought in To-morrow Morning.

Embassy from Holland.

Colonel Morley reports from the Council of State, what the Council have ordered and directed, touching the Conference with the Lord Paw, Extraordinary Ambassador from the Lords the States General; and of the Papers by him delivered to the Commissioners of the Council; viz.

The Lord Pawe's Credential Letters to the Council of State:

The Speech of the Lord Paw, at his Audience before the Council:

The Order of the Council of State appointing Commissioners to treat with the Lord Paw, Extraordinary Ambassador from the United Provinces:

The Order of the Council to the Commissioners appointed to treat with the Lord Paw, to hold him to the former Answers and Declarations made on that Behalf.

And the Order of the Council to the Commissioners, to see the Lord Pawe's Powers:

Which were all this Day read.

The Lord Commissioner Whitelock reports what was delivered by Word of Mouth, by the Lord Paw, to the Commissioners appointed by the Council of State to treat with the Lord Paw.

Colonel Morley also reports an Order, from the Council of State, for insisting upon the Sight of the Powers given to the Lord Paw, Lord Ambassador Extraordinary:

And a Pass for the Lord Paw to go into England:

And the Pass of the States, That the Lord his Ships be not searched: That the Lord Paw, Ambassador Extraordinary, be transported over into England:

The Summary delivered in by the Lord Paw to the Commissioners of the Council of State: With another Paper, delivered in by the Lord Paw, desiring a speedy Answer of what the Commissioners shall report:

Which were all read.

Ordered, That this Debate be resumed To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Resolved, That the Council of State do send into the Parliament To-morrow Morning, all the Papers that they have in French from the Lords Ambassadors Extraordinary from the States General, with the Translation of them in English.
