Tuesday, the 26th of January, 1657.

Protector's Speech to be reported.

RESOLVED, That Mr. Speaker do report his Highness' Speech made Yesterday before the Members of both Houses, in the Banqueting-House, to this House, on Thursday Morning.

Mrs. Scott.

Resolved, That the Business heretofore referred to a Committee concerning Mrs. Scott, be reported on this Day Fortnight.

Journals.

Resolved, That a Committee of this House be appointed to look unto and peruse the Inventory that is to be made of the Journal-Books, Records, and Writings, that do belong to this House, and are now in the Custody of Mr. Scobell, in the Tower within his House; and which are to be delivered by him to Mr. Smythe the Clerk of this House: And that the said Committee do consider of the most fit, safe, and convenient Place, for placing and laying up and preserving the said Books, Records, and Writings in; and to report the same to the House: Viz. Mr. Darley, Mr. Turnor, Mr. Scott, Mr. Pedley, Mr. Drake, Mr. Lucy, Mr. Bond, Colonel Mathews, Mr. Bacon, Mr. Bodwrda, Mr. Alderman Gibbs, Sir Arthur Hasilrigg, Sir Roger Burgoine, Mr. Chute, Mr. Shield, Mr. Hoskins, Mr. Reynell: And that they, or any Three of them, do meet on Saturday next in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber; and adjourn from Day to Day, as they shall see Cause.

Resolved, That the Committee before-named, or any Three of them, do meet weekly on every Saturday in the Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber; and peruse the Journal-Book of this House; and see that the Orders and Proceedings of this House be therein truly entered by the Clerk: And to acquaint the House, as Occasion shall require, with any thing concerning the said Entries of the said Orders and Proceedings.

Avon Navigation.

Resolved, That the Act for making of the River of Avon navigable, be read the Second time on Thursday Sevennight.

Impropriations.

Resolved, That the Committee to whom the Bill for enabling Trustees to purchase in Impropriations, . . . . be revived: And that Mr. Scott, Mr. Darley, Mr. Onslow, Mr. Minors, Sir Tho. Style, Sir Antho. Ashley Cooper, Mr. Bodwrda, Colonel Rous, Mr. Serjeant Thorpe, be added to the said Committee: And are to meet on Thursday next in the Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Duchy-Chamber.

Resolved, That the Committee heretofore named, and the Additional Committee now named, concerning the said Bill for Enabling of Trustees to purchase in Impropriations, be united to the Committee formerly appointed, concerning Uniting of Parishes.

Huntington Parishes.

A Bill for Uniting the Parishes and Parish-Churches in Huntington; and for the better Maintenance of Preaching-Ministers there; was this Day read the Second time; and, upon the Question committed to Mr. Pedley, Mr. Nath. Bacon, Mr. Scott, Mr. Bond, Colonel Mathews, Mr. Williams, Mr. Lucy, Colonel Castle, Colonel Purefoy, Colonel Rosseter, Sir Roger Burgoyne, Mr. Weaver, Sir Tho. Styles, Sir Jo. Thorowgood, Colonel Fitz-James, Mr. Duncombe, Mr. Clerke, Sir Antho. Ashley Cooper; Colonel Wood, Mr. Tymbs, Mr. Luttrell, Sir Arthur Haslerigg, Mr. Pickering, Mr. Lister, Mr. Templar, Mr. Hall, Serjeant Thorpe, Colonel Carter: And are to meet on Friday in the Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Inner Court of Wards.

Highways.

Colonel Mathews reports Amendments to the Bill for Repairing of the Highways: Which were twice read; and, upon the Question, re-committed: And that Sir Antho. Ashley Cooper, Mr. Serjeant Thorpe, Colonel Morley, Mr. St. Nicholas, Colonel Fitz-James, Colonel Lister, Sir Tho. Styles, Mr. Onslow, be added to this Committee: And all that will come, to have Voices: And are to meet on Friday in the Afternoon, in the Exchequer-Chamber.

Yorkshire Cloth Trade.

A Bill for the well-ordering and governing the Makers and Workers of Broad mixed Woollen Cloth, within the West Riding of the County of York; and for making them a Body Politick and Corporate; was this Day read the Second time.

And the Question being put, That this Bill be Committed;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That this Bill shall be rejected.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Trade, to consider of all the Acts of Parliament made concerning Drapery, in order to the altering or confirming the same; and to offer what they shall think fit, to the House, for the regulating the Manufacturers of Cloth, and the true Making thereof, throughout the whole Nation: And that the said Committee offer one or more Bill or Bills to this House, concerning the same, as they shall see Cause.
