Monday, the 14th of November, 1653.

Assessments.

ORDERED, That the Amendments to the Bill for the Assessments, be reported the first Business Tomorrow Morning.

Navy Committee.

Mr. Moyer reports from the Committee for Preservations of the Customs, The Opinion of that Committee;

THAT the same Powers which were heretofore granted to the late Committee of the Navy, and lately transferred by Order of Parliament of the 5th of September last, upon the Council of State, in reference to the Redemption of English Captives, and Disposal of Monies raised by Act of Parliament for that Use; as also that the Power of Disposal of Monies arising by the Collection of the new Impost upon Coals, between the 12th of October and the First of April in each Year successively, for the Relief of the Poor, granted to the late Committee of the Navy by Act of Parliament of the 28th of March 1651; may be settled and vested in such Persons as the Parliament shall please to appoint.

E. of Shrewsbury.

Colonel Rous reports from the Committee for Petitions, The humble Petition of John Earl of Shrewsbury, together with the State of his Case, as it was certified from the Commissioners at Haberdashers-Hall, thereunto annexed: Which were now read.

Resolved, That this Judgment of the Commissioners for Compounding, concerning the Earl of Shrewsbury, shall stand.

Carter's Petition.

He also reports, The humble Petition of Richard Carter of Cullum, Mayor, in the County of Cornwall: Which was this Day read, with a Schedule.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of Petitions, to bring in a Bill to enable the Sale of the several Parcels of Lands contained in the said Schedule, for Payment of Debts; keeping the Remainders of the rest as they were before.

Kendall's Petition.

He also reports the humble Petition of Henry Kendall, of Smithsby in the County of Cornwall, Esquire, and of Henry Kendall his eldest Son, being of the Age of Nineteen Years and a Half: Which was now read.

Stafford's, &c. Estate.

A Bill to enable John Stafford Esquire and Verney Noell Esquire, to make Sale of the Manor of Twycross in the County of Leicester, and for the Settling of the Manor of Smithsby in the County of Derby, was this Day read the First time; and appointed to be read the Second time on this Day Sevennight.

Late King's Property.

A Bill, intituled, A further additional Act for Sale of the Goods belonging to the late King, Queen, and Prince, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the Committee for Petitions: And that they have Power to present five Names of Persons to the Trustees in this Bill.

Postage.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Post-Business, be reported on Saturday next.

Letters read.

A Letter from the Burgomasters and Senators of the Free Imperial City of Lubeck, dated the 24 of October 1653, was this Day read.

Another Letter from the Senate of Hamburgh, dated the 25th of October 1653, was this Day read.

Ordered, That these Letters be referred to the Council of State, to prepare such Answers to be given to them, as they shall think fit.
