Prayers.

Clotworthy's Accompts.

MR. Prideaux reports the Accompts of Sir John Clotworthy, stated and certified by the Committee of Accompts, dated 29 Augusti 1648: The which Accompt was read; and, upon the Question, allowed of.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth allow of the Sum of Three thousand One hundred and Forty-five Pounds to be due unto Sir John Clotworthy, upon the Balance and Foot of his Accompt.

Ordered, That Two thousand Pounds, Part of the said Sum of Three thousand One hundred and Forty-five Pounds, be charged, in Course, upon the Ordinance for Twenty thousand Pounds per Mensem for Ireland, with Interest for the same, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum for the same, to be allowed from this Day.

Ordered, That the Sum of Eleven hundred and Fortyfive Pounds, Remainder of the Three thousand One hundred and Forty-five Pounds, be charged upon the Arrears of the Ordinances for the Brittishe Assessments, with Interest for the same, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum for the same, to be allowed from this Day: And that it be referred, and especially recommended to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland at Derby House, and the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland in the Star Chamber respectively, to take notice hereof; and to give Order to the Treasurers and Collectors of the said Monies respectively, to pay the said respective Sums of Two thousand Pounds, and of Eleven hundred and Forty-five Pounds, together with the growing Interest every Six Months respectively, for the same, to the said Sir John Clotworthy, or his Assigns: And that the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Sir John Clotworthy, or his Assigns shall be, from time to time, a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Treasurers and Collectors, for the Payment of the said respective Sums and Interest accordingly.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, sitting in the Star Chamber, to cast up what is due to Sir John Clotworthy, for his personal Pay, from the One-and-twentieth of December 1641, or the Date of his Commissions, to the Second of December 1644, for his Service in Ireland; he willingly relinquishing any personal Pay from the said Second of December 1644, until this Time; notwithstanding that his Regiment has continued ever since in actual Service in Ireland, and is so at this Time; and is maintained upon the Lands and Revenues of the said Sir John Clotworthy, and his Mother.

Ordered, That the Accompt, together with this Order, be printed.

Wilkinson's Accompt.

Ordered, That the Report of Captain Wilkinson's Accompt be made on Saturday Morning next.

Tredwell's &c. Claims.

Whereas the Lord Inchequin hath taken up, in January 1646, of Richard Tredwell, a Thousand Swords, and Seventy-five Case of Pistols, at the Rate of Three hundred Thirty-six Pounds Five Shillings, on Condition of Payment to be made out of the first Monies that should be appointed for the Province of Munster: And whereas the Lord Inchequin did also take up, from one John Wright, Five hundred defensive Horse Arms more, to the Value of Four hundred and Seventy-five Pounds, making in all Eight hundred and Eleven Pounds Five Shillings: It is Ordered, That the Sum of Five hundred Pounds, part of the said Eight hundred and Eleven Pounds Five Shillings, be paid, in Course, unto the said Richard Tredwell, Robert Jeffery, and Elizabeth Wright, Relict of the said John Wright, or their Assigns, out of the Assessments upon the Ordinance of Twenty thousand Pounds per Mensem, for the Relief of Ireland: And that Interest for the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, be paid unto the said Richard Tredwell, Robert Jeffery, and Elizabeth Wright, or their Assigns, from this Day, out of the said Assessments upon the said Ordinance of Twenty thousand Pounds per Mensem, until the said principal Money be paid and satisfied unto them.

And it is further Ordered, That the Sum of Three hundred and Eleven Pounds Five Shillings, Part of the Sum of Eight hundred and Eleven Pounds Five Shillings, due unto Richard Tredwell, Robert Jeffery, and Elizabeth Wright, for Arms taken up by the Lord Inchiquin for the Province of Munster in Ireland, be paid unto the said Richard Tredwell, Robert Jeffery, and Elizabeth Wright, or their Assigns, out of the Arrears of the Assessments for the Brittish Army, after former Engagements thereupon satisfied: And that Interest for the said Three hundred and Eleven Pounds Five Shillings, after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, be paid unto the said Richard Tredwell, Robert Jeffery, and Elizabeth Wright, or their Assigns, from this Day, out of the Arrears of the said Assessments for the Brittish Army, until the said Three hundred and Eleven Pounds Five Shillings be paid and satisfied.

New England.

Ordered, That the Ordinance for New England be read on Friday Morning next.

Abolishing Deans and Chapters.

An Ordinance for abolishing Deans, Deans and Chapters, &c. within the Kingdom of England, and Dominion of Wales, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee of the whole House: Who are to meet upon it on Friday Morning next, at Eight of Clock: And Mr. Speaker not to take the Chair: With Power to the Committee to fill up the Blanks, and to perfect the Ordinance; and report it with all convenient Speed.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Wheeler, with the Messages Yesterday appointed to be carried by him to the Lords, this Day likewise carried the Order for Three hundred Pounds to Lieutenant Colonel Lilburne, in Part of his Arrears, out of Sir Charles Keymishe his Fine: The Order for One hundred and Seventy-four Pounds to Sir Edward Dodsworth, in Discharge of the Respite of Publick Faith upon his Accompt, out of Haberdashers Hall.

Dorsett Militia.

Sir Walter Erle carried to the Lords the Ordinance for maintaining the Militia in the County of Dorsett.

Report deferred.

Ordered, That Mr. Swynfen do make his Report touching Herefordsheire and Plimouth on Friday Morning next.

Message from the Lords.

A Message from the Lords by Mr. Page and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have commanded us to deliver unto you the Petition of the Earl of Cleveland, with an Order for Bail: To which their Lordships desire the Concurrence of this House: The Countess of Kildare's Petition, specially recommended by their Lordships: The Petition of John White, Yeoman Warder in the Tower: To which is annexed Two Certificates: the one, from his Excellency the Lord Fairfax; the other, from Four of the Members of this House: Which Petition the Lords especially recommend to your Consideration.

The humble Petition of the Lady Joan Countess of Kildare was this Day read.

Dorsett Militia.

Sir Walter Erle reports, That the Lords do agree to the Ordinance for maintaining the Militia in the County of Dorsett.

Lords agree to Ordinances.

Mr. Wheeler reports, That the Lords do agree to the Ordinance for giving Power, and enabling the Committee nominated, to treat personally with the King: To the Order for Revoking of the Votes of the First of January 1647, so far as they extend to any Restraint of the King's Person to Carisbrooke Castle: To the Order for Five thousand Pounds for Sir Richard Darley: To the rest, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Dr. Dorislaus.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do forthwith pay unto Dr. Dorislaus, or such as are or shall be authorized by him to receive the same, the Sum of One hundred Pounds, upon Account.

Earl of Cleveland.

The Certificates of Dr. Wedderburne and Dr. Grent, Physicians, certifying the State of the Earl of Cleveland's Indisposition, were read: And likewise the Order of the Lords, for his Enlargement upon Bail for Three Months: The which was agreed unto, with one Addition, "That the said Earl should pass his Parole, not to act any thing against the Parliament in the mean time."

Sir Robert Harley returned it to the Lords, with the said Addition.

Countess of Kildare.

Ordered, That the Sum of Seven hundred Pounds, formerly ordered to be paid to the Lady Joan Countess of Kildare, be made up One thousand Pounds; and be forthwith paid unto her, or her Assignees, upon her Husband's Account, in Part of his Arrears, out of such Delinquents Estates as she shall discover to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall, not formerly sequestred, or that have compounded at under Values: And that the said Committee be injoined to proceed upon such Discovery, and to pay the said One thousand Pounds to her, or her Assignee, accordingly: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Lady Joan Countess of Kildare, or her Assignees, testifying the Receipt of the said One thousand Pounds, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the Treasurers at Goldsmiths Hall, or to such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Ordered, That the Sum of Three hundred Pounds be forthwith paid unto the Lady Joan Countess of Kildare, or her Assigns, upon her Husband's Account, in Part of his Arrears: And that the said Three hundred Pounds be charged upon Haberdashers Hall, and paid, by Order of the Committee usually sitting there, out of the Fifth, and Twentieth Part of such Person or Persons as the said Countess of Kildare shall nominate, and present to the said Committee at Haberdashers Hall, who have not formerly paid their Fifth, and Twentieth part.

The Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

White's Petition.

The humble Petition of John White, Yeoman Warder in the Tower, was read: And

It is Ordered, That the Petitioner be referred and recommended to the Committee of the Revenue, to put him into some convenient Place of Attendance upon the King in the Isle of Wight.

Loan by the City.

Sir Harbottle Grimston reports from the City, that they shall have a positive, and, as is expected, a full Answer, touching the Ten thousand Pounds intended for the Occasions of the Treaty, on Friday Morning next.

King's Expences, &c.

Ordered, That the Sum of Five hundred Pounds be forthwith provided and paid, upon Account, to Sir Edward Sydnam, Captain Titus and Mr. Tirwhitt, for Providing of Coaches, Horses, Footmens Liveries, and other Provisions for the Stable, out of the first Monies that shall come in of the Ten thousand Pounds intended for supplying the Occasions of the Treaty.

Ordered, That the Sum of Five hundred Pounds be forthwith paid, upon Account, to such as the Committees nominated to treat shall appoint to receive the same, for providing Linen, and other necessary Accommodations for the Treaty, out of the first Monies that shall come in of the Ten thousand Pounds intended for supplying the Occasions of the Treaty.

Ordered, That the Sum of Six thousand Pounds, Part of the Ten thousand Pounds intended for Supply of the Occasions of the Treaty, be paid to such as the King shall appoint to receive the same, upon Account for defraying the King's Expences, and his Housholds, during the Treaty.

Ordered, That the Sum of Three thousand Pounds, Part of the Ten thousand Pounds intended for the Occasions of the Treaty, be paid to such as the Committees, nominated to treat, shall appoint to receive the same, upon Account, for defraying the Expences of the said Committees, during the Time of the Treaty.

Coals for City Poor.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, to consider of the Desires of the City of London, to have Four thousand Chaldron of Sea Coals shipped from Newcastle, and brought to London, free of Impost, or any other Charges whatsoever, to be employed for the Benefit of the Poor of the City of London, and Borough of Southwarke; and report their Opinions thereupon with all convenient Speed.

Derby House Committee.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of the Revenue, and the Committee at Derby House, to meet together this Afternoon; and to consider together, How the Sum of a Thousand Pounds may be presently provided and furnished for Supply of the incident Charges, and necessary Occasions, of the Committee at Derby House, for Intelligencies, Foreign Agencies, and Reward of such as are employed by them; and likewise to consider, How the Allowances, formerly assigned for supplying the Occasions and Services of that Committee, may be constantly paid.

Middleton to account.

Ordered, That Mr. Middleton, a Member of this House, be required to attend the Committee of the Revenue, on Monday next. in the Afternoon; and give in his positive Answer, touching the Paying in of certain Monies said to be in his Hands, and owing by him to the Revenue: And that the said Committee do report his Answer to the House.

Resident at Paris.

Ordered, That the Committee of the Navy do take care, and give Order, That the Sum of One hundred Pounds may be forthwith paid unto Monsieur Renard Augier, Resident for the Parliament at Paris, or such as are or shall be authorized by him to receive the same, towards the Defraying of his extraordinary Charges: And that they do consider, which Way a Certainty of Maintenance may be apportioned unto him; and report their Opinions thereupon to the House.

Capt. Dick.

Ordered, That the Members of this House, that are of the Committee of the Navy, be added to the Committee appointed to consider of Captain Dick's Business.
