Prayers.

Complaint against Hyde.

ORDERED, That the Complaint of the Governor and Company of Merchants trading into the Levant Seas, against Henry Hyde, Merchant, otherwise called Sir Henry Hyde Knight, be referred to the Council of State, to consider thereof, and of the Articles against the said Henry Hyde; and what is sit to be done therein; and to proceed therein, or give such Order for Proceedings against the said Henry Hyde, as they shall think fit.

Court of War.

The humble Petition of the Court of War sitting at Whitehall, was this Day read.

DoverCastle, &c.

Resolved, That it be referred to the Council of State, to take Consideration of the Castle of Dover, whether it be useful to be continued, or fit to be totally slighted; or how the Charge may be lessened; and whether the Jurisdiction of the Wardenship of the Cinque Ports is fit to be resumed, or what is sit to be done in it; and, in case they shall think it necessary to continue a Garison there, then to present to the Parliament some fit Person to command there; and in the mean time, to take care of the Security of that Place and Garrison; and to make Report thereof to this House for their Approbation and Allowance.

Col. Sidney.

Resolved, That the Committee to whom the Business concerning Colonel Sidney is referred, do proceed in the Examination of the whole Business: With Power to examine upon Oath; and to state the Truth of the whole Business; and make Report thereof to the House.

Highways.

Ordered, That Mr. Garland do report the Amendments to the Bill for amending the Highways This-day-sevennight, after Mr. Speaker takes the Chair.

Carmen.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Carmen be made This-day-sevennight.

Embassy from Portugal.

The Lord Commissioner Whitlock reports, The Answer to be given to the publick Minister from the King of Portugall.

Which was this Day read the First time at large; and, after, was read by Parts; and, every Part being put to the Question, after some Amendments at the Table, was assented unto.

Resolved, That this Answer be sent to the publick Minister of the King of Portugall, by Three of the Members of this House: And that they deliver the same to him: Viz. by Mr. Solicitor General, Mr. Carew, Mr. Bond.

Prisoners in Portugall.

The humble Petition of divers Persons, whose Brothers and Friends are now Prisoners in the several Parts of the King of Portugall's Dominions; as also, of Elizabeth Hargrave, and Jane Crane, on Behalf of themselves, and divers other Women, whose Husbands are Prisoners there; was this Day read.

Resolved, That this Petition be referred to the Council of State; for them to take the same into Consideration what is fit to be done therein.

A Letter from Joa'o Guimaraes, the publick Minister of the King of Portugall, of the Sixth of February, Stilo Novo, Anno 1651, was this Day read.
