Delinquents.

MR. John Ashe reports divers Fines and Compositions from the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall: Whereupon it is resolved, &c. as followeth; viz.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two hundred and Threescore Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Howard Bickerstaffe of Godston in the County of Surrey, Gentleman: His Offence, That he left his Habitation, and went to Oxford: He rendered upon the Articles of Oxford: His Estate, in Fee, in Possession, per Annum, One hundred and Thirty Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Tenth, is Two hundred and Threescore Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Howard Bickerstaff, of Godston in the County of Surrey, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Fifty Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Ferdinando Stanley, of Broughton in the County of Lancaster, Gentleman: His Offence, That he was in Arms against the Parliament: He rendered in August 1644: His Estate, in Fee, in old Rents, per Annum, Twenty Pounds Five Shillings; in Reversion, after his Mother, per Annum, Twenty-eight Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Four-pence; in Reversion, after his Sister, per Annum, Thirty Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Tenth, is One hundred and Fifty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Ferdinando Stanley, of Broughton in the County of Lancaster, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of Two hundred and Twenty Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of William Walker, of Kirkham, in the County of Lancaster, Attorney; but is only for the County Palatine Court there: His Offence, That he adhered unto and assisted the Forces raised against the Parliament: He rendered since December 1645: His Estate, in Fee, per Annum, Seventeen Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Four-pence; for Three Lives, per Annum, Forty-three Pounds: in Reversion, per Annum, One Pound Ten Shillings: For which his Fine, as an Attorney at Law, is set at Two hundred and Twenty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Wm. Walker, of Kirkham in the County of Lancaster, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

That this House doth accept of the Sum of Three hundred and Twenty Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Samuel Davison, of Wingate in the County of Durham, Gentleman: His Offence, That he was in Arms against the Parliament: He rendered before December, 1645: His Estate, in Fee, per Annum, One hundred and Sixty Pounds: For which his Fine, at a Tenth, is Three hundred and Twenty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Samuell Davison, of Wingate in the County of Durham, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred Twenty-and-two Pounds, for a Fine, for the Delinquency of Thomas Waller, of Beverley in the County of York, Gentleman: His Offence, That he was in Arms against the Parliament; He rendered before December, 1645: His Estate, in Fee, per Annum, Seventyeight Pounds: Out of which is deducted, for One Life, eight Pounds; and Twenty-six Pounds per Annum, paid to his Mother, for her Dower: Which being allowed, leaves the Fine, at a Tenth, One hundred and Twenty-two Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Thomas Waller, of Beverley in the County of York, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth accept of the Sum of One hundred and Three-score Pounds for a Fine, for the Delinquency of William Lockton, in the County of Lincoln, Gentleman: His Offence, That he was in Arms against the Parliament: He rendered upon the Articles of Newark: His Estate, in Fee, per Annum, Eighty Pounds: Out of which issues, for ever, per Annum, Twenty-two Pounds; and Two hundred Pounds charged upon his Lands: Which, being allowed, leaves the Fine, at a Sixth, One hundred and Sixty Pounds.

An Ordinance for granting a Pardon unto Wm. Lockton, of Swyneshead in the County of Lincoln, Gentleman, for his Delinquency, and for taking off the Sequestration of his Estate, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Middleton's Arrears.

Whereas Sir Wm. Middleton hath faithfully served the Parliament in these late Wars in North Wales; and that a great Arrear is due unto him for his said Service: It is Ordered, That the Sum of One thousand Pounds be allowed and paid unto the said Sir Wm. Middleton, upon Account, towards Satisfaction, of his Arrears out of the Revenue arising out of his Father's Water Works, called Middleton's Works, about the City of London: And that the said Sir Wm. Middleton, who is the Fee Farmer of the said Rent, do detain in his Hands, out of the said Rents, the said Thousand Pounds: And, that there may be a sufficient and orderly Discharge for the same, It is Ordered, That the Committee of the Revenue do take care thereof; and give their Warrant therein.

Collection for Bridgnorth.

Ordered, That a Grant be prepared, and that the Commissioners of the Great Seal be hereby authorized and required to pass the same, under the Great Seal, unto the Bailiffs and other Inhabitants of the Town of Bridgnorth, for a general Collection of the Charity of well-disposed People through all the Counties of England, and Dominion of Wales, for Relief of the Inhabitants of the said Town, who sustained, by the Enemies firing the said Town, Spoil to the Value of Ninety thousand Pounds, to the utter Ruin of above Three hundred Families.

Repair of Churches, &c.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee to receive Petitions, to examine and consider how, and in what Manner, such Churches, Towns, or Houses, as have been burnt, demolished, or spoiled, since these Wars, may be repaired; and report the same to the House: Viz. Collections on Briefs.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth declare, and so order, That no general Collections shall be made in Parishes, by way of Brief, for demanding the Charity of People, except it be made under the Great Seal of England, directed by Order of both Houses of Parliament.

Appointment of Sheriffs.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and appoint Edward Games, Esquire, to be Sheriff of the County of Brecon: And that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent to the said Edward Games, under the said Great Seal, to be Sheriff of the said County of Brecon accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and appoint Wm. Lloyd, Esquire, to be Sheriff of the County of Carnarvon: And that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent to the said Wm. Lloyd, under the said Great Seal, to be Sheriff of the said County of Carnarvon accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and appoint Robert Martin Esquire to be Sheriff of the County of Radnour: And that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent to the said Robert Martin, under the said Great Seal, to be Sheriff of the said County of Radnour accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and appoint Francis Lloyd, Esquire, to be Sheriff of the County of Carmarthen: And that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent to the said Francis Lloyd to be Sheriff of the said County of Carmarthen accordingly.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth nominate and appoint Wm. Standen, Esquire, to be Sheriff of the County of Berks: And that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent to the said Wm. Standen, under the said Great Seal, to be Sheriff of the said County of Berks accordingly.

Conference desired.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Pye do, To-morrow, go to the Lords, to desire a Conference, by Committees of both Houses, so soon as may stand with their Lordships Conveniency, concerning the Business of Sheriffs.

Collection for Bridgnorth.

Mr. Pierrepoint brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Order for a Collection for the Town of Bridgnorth.

Sheriffs Accompts.

Ordered, That any Four of the Committee, formerly appointed for Sheriffs Accompts, shall have Power to meet and act upon the Order to the said Committee.

Naval Affairs.

A Warrant from the King to Captain Pennington, of 28 Julii 1625, requiring to deliver the Ship Vanguard, and the Seven Merchant Ships, under his Command, to the Command of Marquis D'Effyatt; or to sink such as shall refuse to obey such Commands; a Letter from the Duke of Bucks, then Lord Admiral, to the said Captain Pennington, to the same Purpose; and an Account of Sir Edward Nicholas his Employment and Transaction in that Business; a Warrant to Captain Pennington, to transport George Digby out of the Kingdom, of January 1641; were all read.

A Warrant, under the King's Hand, to Captain Pennyngton, for transporting . . . Earl of Traquaire into Scotland; a Warrant, under the King's Hand, to Sir John Heyden, to send unto him, in the securest Manner he can, Arms and Ammunition to him, to York, in June; were all this Day read.

Ordered, That these Papers and Letters be referred to the Committee appointed to prepare the Declaration to shew the Grounds of the Houses passing their Votes concerning the King.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to collect Letters and Papers, do use their Diligence to make their best Collection they can of all such Letters and Papers as concern the King; and report the same on Wednesday Morning next, the first Business.

Navy.

Ordered, upon the Question, That, To-morrow Morning, the first Business, the Reports concerning the Navy be made: And that the House do resume the further Consideration of making a Supply for the Maintenance of the Navy.

Tryal of Burley, &c.

Ordered, That Serjeant Wilde do go down into the County of Southampton, to sit upon the Tryal of Captain Burley, and others, who made the late Insurrection in the Isle of Wight, according to the Directions of the Commission of Oyer and Terminer, awarded to issue into the said County to that Purpose.

Ordered, That Mr. Steele the Lawyer be hereby required to go down into the County of Southampton, to prosecute the Tryal against Captain Burley, who made the late Insurrection in the Isle of Wight.
