ORDERED, That Sir Thomas Maleverer shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That Mr. Ellys shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Litton shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Worsley shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Col. Overton.

Ordered, That the Business concerning Colonel Overton, Governor at Pontefract Castle, appointed for this Day, be reported; and taken into Consideration on this Day Sevennight.

Earl of Warwick.

Ordered, That the Earl of Warwick's Petition, in Mr. Gerard's Hand, be read on Thursday Morning next.

Regiments for Ireland.

A Letter from Sir Thomas Fairfax the General, from Nottingham, of 4° Martii 1646, directed "To the Committee of Lords and Commons, at Derby House;" in Answer to a Letter of theirs, concerning Two Regiments of the Army, to go over into Ireland, for the present Service of Dublyn; was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That so soon as the Business for this Day shall be dispatched, that this Letter be taken into Consideration.

Army Affairs.

The Order made on Friday last, directing the Business of this Day, was read.

And the House sell upon the Consideration thereof. And

It is Resolved, &c. That no Officer that shall command under Sir Thomas Fairfax, those Forces that shall be kept up in the Kingdom of England, shall be above a Colonel.

The Question was propounded, That no Member of this House shall have the Command of any of those Garisons, or of any of the Forces that are now to be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax.

And the Question being put, Whether this Question shall be now put;

It passed with the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That no Member of this House shall have the Command of any of the Garisons, or of any of the Forces that are now to be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax.

Resolved, &c. That the Officers that shall have Command in any of the Garisons, or in any of the Forces that are now to be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax, shall take the Covenant.

Resolved, &c. That no Officer that has borne Arms against the Parliament, shall be employed in any of the Garisons or Forces that are now to be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax.

The Question was propounded, That such Persons as shall be employed as Officers in the Garisons or Forces as shall be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax, shall conform to the Government of the Church established by both Houses of Parliament.

And the Question being put, Whether this Question shall be now put;

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

So the Question passed with the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That such Persons as shall be employed as Officers in the Garisons or Forces that shall be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax, shall conform to the Government of the Church established by both Houses of Parliament.

Resolved, &c. That no profane Curser or Swearer, Drunkard or Whoremaster, or otherwise scandalous in Life or Conversation, shall be employed as an Officer in any of the Garisons or Forces that are to be kept up in the Kingdom of England, under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax.

Resolved, &c. That, To-morrow Morning, the Members of the House, of the several Counties, do bring in a List of the Governors, and other Officers, of such Garisons as are to be kept up in the several Counties; that the House may approve of such of them as they shall think fit.
