Prayers.

Ordered, That the Report of the very blasphemous Words, spoken by one Jane Stretton, be re-committed to the same Committee; with the Addition of Sir Christ. Yelverton, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Hill, and Mr. Bond: Who are to hear the said Jane Stretton, and the Witnesses, Face to Face; and to bring in their Opinions, What is to be done with the said Jane Stretton, if it appear, that she spake those Words: They are further to inquire after the Information given in by Sir Christ. Yelverton; and to examine that whole Business; and to bring in their Opinions upon it: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records.

Ordered, That the Business of the Church be taken into further Consideration by the Grand Committee of the House, on Monday Morning next, peremptorily: And the Committee is appointed to sit at Eight of Clock.

An Ordinance for establishing a Court Martial in the County of Kent, for the Punishing of the late Rebels there, and such as shall make Insurrections hereafter, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto Mr. Selden, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Sam. Browne, Mr. Hill, Mr. Sollicitor: Who are presently to withdraw, and meet upon it.

An Ordinance for punishing such Persons as, being imprested, shall not repair to their Colours, or as shall run away from their Colours, was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the same Committee as the former; with the Addition of Mr. Scawen, Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Pury, Sir Jo. Potts, Sir Tho. Widdrington, Mr. Wheler, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Reynolds, Sir Hen. Cholmeley, Mr. Whitelock, Sir Jo. Evelyn, Mr. Hodges, Sir Gilbert Gerard, Mr. Strode: And they are to meet this Afternoon at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer-Chamber.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Tho. Fairefaxe be desired forthwith to send up to this House Captain Bushy, of Colonel Vermuyden's Regiment.

Ordered, That such Reports or Motions, as shall concern, the Armies, shall have Precedency of all other Matters, when they shall be offered to be made.

A Message from the Lords, by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heath;

The Lords have commanded us to return you this Ordinance, for settling and managing the Places of the Lord Admiral, and Lord Warden of the Cinque-Ports, with one Alteration; viz. changing the Word "Seven," in the Quorum, to "Five:" And do agree to it, with That Alteration; and desire your Concurrence.

They have received the Petition of one Arth. Samuell Esquire: Which they recommend unto the Consideration of this House.

Resolved, &c. That this House does agree with the Lords in the Alteration desired by the Lords, in changing the Word "Seven," in the Quorum of this Ordinance, into "Five."

Resolved, &c. That Doctor Walker, formerly Advocate to the Admiralty and Navy, and Mr. Jessop and Mr. Coytmore, formerly Secretaries to the Lord Admiral, be, from this House, recommended unto the Committee for the Admiralty, for the Continuing of them in their respective and several Places.

Ordered, That the Lords be desired, That the Committee for managing the Places of the Lord Admiral and Lord Warden of the Cinque-Ports may meet this Afternoon; and take into Consideration, in the first place, How the Summer's Fleet, for this present Summer's Expedition, may be commanded; and to represent their Opinions to the Houses for their Approbation.

Mr. Green is appointed to carry up this Order.

The humble Petition of Arthur Samuell Esquire was this Day read.

Ordered, That Mr. Samuell be taken into Consideration, when the Report shall be made from the Committee concerning Offices.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and do agree to the Alteration in the Ordinance for the Admiralty; and have taken Mr. Samuell's Petition into Consideration.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the Creditors of Sir Tho. Dawes be made on Friday Morning next.

Mr. Greene carried up to the Lords also a Vote of this House, for John Fielder Esquire to be Governor of Farneham-Castle; and a Vote for a Pension of Three thousand Pounds per Annum to the Earl of Northumberland, for his Attendance and Care of his Majesty's Children.

Ordered, That the Five hundred Pounds, lent by the Committee of Essex, towards the Fortnight's Pay of the Officers, that went off upon the Reducement, and appointed to be paid to Mr. Francis Allen and Mr. John Dethick, for That Service, shall be forthwith paid, in their Absence, at Guildhall, to any Two other of the Treasurers for Sir Thomas Fairfax' Army: And that the Receipt of any of the said Two Treasurers shall be a sufficient Warrant for the Persons that advanced the said Five hundred Pounds to demand the Repayment thereof, according to the Order of the Tenth of this Instant April.

A List for the Pay and Entertainment of the Army under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax was this Day read; and, upon the Question, approved of; and assented unto; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

A List of the Officers, Attendants, and Artificers, belonging unto the Train of Artillery under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax, together with their several Entertainments; was this Day read; and, upon the Question, approved of; and assented unto; and ordered to be sent to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Ordered, That Two Brass Demiculverins, and Eight Brass Sacres, formerly made use . . . in the Navy, and now lying upon the Tower-Wharf, shall be taken thence, and employed towards the Furnishing of the Train of Artillery in the Army under the Command of Sir Thomas Fairfax.

Lords Concurrence to be desired herein.

Mr. Green brings Answer from the Lords, That the Lords have appointed to meet at Three of Clock this Afternoon, in the Prince's Lodgings, with the Committee of this House; to consider of Persons to be named to both Houses, for the Command of the Navy for this Expedition: And that, as to the other Messages carried up by him, they do agree.

Ordered, That the Captain-Lieutenant of Serjeant-Major-General Skippon's Troop shall have the Pay of a Captain for a Troop of Horse.

Ordered, That the Committee sitting in the Queen's Court do deliver, to the Committee of the Army where Mr. Scawen has the Chair, such Instructions as they have prepared for Regulating of the Army: And it is further Ordered, That the Committee for the Army do consider of an Establishment of Pay to be allowed to the Commissioners appointed by the Parliament to reside in the Army: And to report both these Particulars to the House.

Ordered, That the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Common-Council of the City of London, do consider of a fit Person to be Lieutenant of the Tower of London; and to present his Name to this House.

Ordered, That Captain James shall have Power to seize upon, and recruit his Troop out of, such Horses as are the State's, marked with the State's Mark; and have been embezled, and sold away to any Persons in the Counties of Buck', Berk', and Oxon.
