Prayers.

THE Grand Committee of the whole House, according to former Order, proceeded to the further Consideration of the Business concerning such as are not to be admitted to the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

The House was informed of a printed Paper, intituled, "The Speech of their Excellencies the Lords Ambassadors Extraordinary from the High and Mighty States General of the United Provinces of the Netherlands, taking their Leave of both the Honourable Houses of Parliament, assembled at Westminster, Aprilis 10, 1645. Translated out of French into English, and printed by their Excellencies Order. Steph. Taylor, Secretary:" The which was read: And.

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the Printing and Publishing of this Paper, be referred to the Committee of both Kingdoms: Who are desired to give an Account hereof To-morrow Morning.

Ordered, That the Business concerning Elections be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Ordered, That the Report concerning Nottingham; the Ordinances concerning the Northern Parts, and concerning Derbyshire; and the Report concerning Croyland; be taken into Consideration the First Businesses To-morrow Morning.

A Message from the Lords, by Serjeant Whittfield and Doctor Heath;

The Lords have received a Report, from the Committee of both Houses, for regulating the King's Childrens Family: Which they agree unto; and desire the Concurrence of this House.

Ordered, That this Message from the Lords, concerning the King's Childrens Family; and the Report, in Mr. Rous his Hands, concerning the same Business; be taken into Consideration on Friday Morning next.

A Message from the Lords, by Serjeant Whitfield and Doctor Heath;

The Lords have this Morning received Extracts of several Letters from Scotland, concerning a great Defeat given to the Rebels Forces in Scottland: They have thought fit to communicate the Extracts to this House: And desire this House to join with them in the Printing of them; and that there may be Publick Thanks given to God for this great Victory, the next Sunday, in all the Churches and Chapels within the Lines of Communication on Sunday next.

The Lords have commanded us further to let you know, That this House hath appointed Three Lords to go and congratulate with the Scotts Commissioners the good Success of their Forces in Scotland; and to let them know, That this House hopes this will be a Means for the speedier advancing of their Army Southward: And do desire, That this House will appoint a proportionable Committee of their House to join with the Three Lords; with the same Power from this House; and to go at Four of Clock this Afternoon.

Resolved, &c. That this House does agree with the Lords in the Printing and Publishing the Extracts of these Letters; and that Publick Thanks may be given to Almighty God for this great Victory in all the Churches and Chapels within the Lines of Communication on Sunday next.

Sir Anth. Irby, Sir Christ. Wray, Sir Wm. Stricland, Mr. Baynton, Sir Philip Stapilton, Mr. Holles, are appointed to go, with a proportionable Number of the Lords, this Afternoon, at Four of Clock, to congratulate with the Scotts Commissioners the good Success of their Forces in Scotland; and to let them know, That both Houses hope this will be a Means for the speedier Advancing of their Army Southward.

Answer returned by the First Messengers; That this House will take their Lordships Message into speedy Consideration; and send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Answer returned by the Second Messengers; That this House has read the Extract of the Letters from Scotland; and do agree that it be printed; and that there be a publick Thanksgiving in all the Churches and Chapels within the Lines of Communication on Sunday next: And have appointed a Committee of this House to meet with a proportionable . . . . . of Lords, to go to the Scotts Commissioners, as is desired.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee of Accompts be taken into Consideration on Friday Morning next.

The House took Consideration of nominating Persons to be put into the Ordinance for managing the Offices of Lord Admiral and Lord Warden of the Cinque-Ports; and nominated the Earl of Northumbland, Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery, Earl of Essex, Earl of Warwick, Lord Viscount Say and Seale, Lord North, Mr. Holles, Sir Walter Erle, Sir Christopher Wray, Sir Phil. Stapilton, Sir John Evelyn junior, Mr. Selden, Doctor Eden, Mr. Whitelock, Mr. Greene, Mr. Lislie, Mr. Rolle, Mr. Alexander Bence.

IT is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That Algernon Earl of Northumberland, Philip Earl of Pembroke and Montgommery, Robert Earl of Essex, Robert Earl of Warwick, Wm. Viscount Say and Seale, Dudley Lord North, Denzil Holles Esquire, Sir Walter Erle, Sir Christopher Wray, Sir Philip Stapilton, Sir John Evelyn junior, John Selden Esquire, Doctor Thomas Eden, Bulstrode Whitelock, Gyles Green, John Lisle, John Roll, and Alexander Bence Esquires, shall be a Committee of Lords and Commons; and they, or any Seven (fn. 1) of them, Sitting the Committee, are hereby authorized and enabled to do and execute all such Things as appertain to the Office of Lord High Admiral of England, and Lord Warden of the Cinque-Ports, in as ample Manner, and to all Intents and Purposes, as the Lord High Admiral, or Lord Warden of the Cinque-Ports, have used, and ought to do; for the Good and Safety of the Kingdom, and due Government of the Affairs and Persons belonging to the said Offices: Which Committee have Power and Authority to nominate and appoint all Commanders and Officers to be employed in the Admiralty and Navy, and to present them to both Houses, for their Approbation. Provided, and it is hereby Ordained, That this Ordinance, and every Clause therein contained, shall remain, and be in Force, until the First Day of October next coming, and no longer.
