PRAYERS.

Payment of Scotts Army, &c.

SIR Henry Vane junior reports from the Committee of both Kingdoms, divers Propositions from the Scotts Commissioners, touching the ascertaining the Payment of their Armies; and the Answer of the Committee to those Propositions; and the Reply of the Scotts Commissioners: The which were read; and, after some Debate thereupon,

It was Resolved, &c. That the Number of the Army, together with the Train of Artillery, as it was first brought in under the Command of the Earl of Leven, and hath continued since, from time to time, be known, and speedily certified to the Parliament: And, for the future, that a regular Way be set down and observed for the taking of true Musters of the said Army, by such Rule as the Parliament of England shall appoint for the mustering their own Forces: And the Musters to be taken by such Persons as the Parliament of England shall appoint from time to time.

Resolved, &c. That the Parliament do give Order to those whom it may concern, speedily to certify to the Houses, or others by the Houses to be appointed for that Purpose, a true and speedy Account of such Money, Billet, and other Provisions, as have been furnished and supplied by this Kingdom, for the Use of the Army, from the Time of their Entrance into England, unto the last of November 1644; that a perfect Account may be made up and settled to that Day.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee where Mr. Scawen has the Chair, to prepare Rules for the taking of true Musters of the Armies under the Command of the Parliament of England: And they are to meet on Monday next, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber; and to bring them in with all Speed.

Ordered, That the House do proceed in this Report on Monday Morning, the first Business.

Excise, &c.

Resolved, &c. That the Receipts of the Excise shall not be disposed into other Hands than now they are in, till the present Commissioners of Excise shall be secured and indemnified for the Monies engaged by them, upon the Credit of the Excise: And that an Ordinance be brought in to that Purpose.

Ordered, That the Two thousand Pounds now promised to be forthwith advanced and paid in by the Commissioners of Excise, be by them paid to Mr. Frost; to be disposed of by the Committee of both Kingdoms: And that Mr. Frost's Receipt shall be a sufficient Discharge for the Payment thereof.

Ordered, That Mr. Greene do bring in an Ordinance for regulating the Collections of the Excise upon Flesh in the Out Counties, in like manner as it is within the Lines of Communication.

Privilege.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Harley, Sir Philip Stapilton, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Gilbert Pyckeringe, Captain Wingate, Lord Cramborne, Doctor Eden, Sir Tho. Woodhouse, Mr. Gourdon, Sir Edw. Hungerford, Colonel Purefoye, Mr. Rowse, Mr. Strode, Sir William Lewes, Sir Wm. Lytton, Sir Peter Temple, Sir Edmond Fowell, Sir Wm. Allenson, and all the Lawyers of the House, be added to the Committee appointed to consider, whether the Privilege of the House be broken by the Matter of the Report made on Wednesday last by Mr. Hollis: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Lavenham Parsonage.

Ordered, That Sir Simonds D'Ewes do bring in an Ordinance for the Institution of Mr. Wm. Gurnill, Minister of God's Word, to the Parsonage of * * * in the County of Suffolk.

Answers from Lords.

Mr. Reynolds reports, the Lords do agree to the Answer to the States Ambassadors: And, as to the Manner of receiving them; and to the Ordinance concerning the Widows; will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Mr. Nicholl brings Answer, The Lords do agree to the Ordinance for Two thousand Pounds for the West; and the Ordinance for continuing the Managing of the Excise upon Flesh and Salt in the same Hands it is.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Waller Earle reports from the Lords, That, as to the Ordinance for the bringing in the Arrears of the monthly Assessments; and That concerning the English Saltpetre; they will send Answer by Messengers of their own: And that they agree that Sir Wm. Masham be added to the Assembly of Divines, in the Place of Sir Tho. Barrington, deceased.

States Ambassadors.

A Message from the Lords, by Doctor Aylett and Doctor Heath;

The Lords do think fit, that the States Ambassadors do receive their Answer in both Houses, where they made their Proposition; and, for that Purpose, have agreed, that Tuesday next, at Ten of Clock in the Morning, shall be the Day: And desire the House of Commons to join with them therein, if they think fit.

Ordered, That the same Committee as was formerly appointed for the Reception of the States Ambassadors, do take Order, that the same outward Ceremony be observed towards the States Ambassadors, in their receiving of their Answer, as was observed at their Reception: And Mr. Wheeler is appointed to take care herein.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and do agree, that the States Ambassadors shall receive their Answer at the Time and in the Manner desired.

Church Government.

Ordered, That the Report of the Ordinance concerning the Directory, be made on Monday Morning next.

Colonel Butler, &c.

Ordered, That the Report concerning Colonel Butler and Quarter Master General Dalbeir be made on Tuesday Morning next.
