PRAYERS,

Relief of Boyle, &c.

THE humble Petition of Robt. Boyle, Preacher of God's Word in the Kingdom of Ireland, despoiled of all his Estate in that Kingdom by the Rebels, was this Day read; and likewise a Recommendation, from my Lord General of his Person and Condition, to the Committee for Contributions for Ireland, was this Day read.

Resolved, upon the Question;

That Mr. Robt. Boyle shall have forty Pounds out of the Contribution-monies; and that Dr. Jones do pay him these Forty Pounds out of the Monies remaining in his Hands: And if there be not so much to be had there, that then it be referred to Mr. Wheeler, to take care for the Payment of these Forty Pounds.

Ordered, That the Committee for Contributions do presently examine the Business informed the House concerning Dr. Jones; and report to the House what is become of those Monies delivered unto him for the Relief of the poor English Protestants in Ireland: And that the Case of the Lady Caulfield be especially recommended to this Committee, to relieve her out of the Monies in Dr. Jones his Hands, if it may be had there.

Prisoner discharged.

Resolved, &c. That Wm. Abbys, one of the high Collectors for the County of Bedford, who was sent for as a Delinquent, for not bringing in of the Collections upon the Bill of Four hundred thousand Pounds, be forthwith discharged from any further Restraint, having paid in all his Collections, except some Thirty Pounds, which he hath promised to pay in very suddenly.

Supply for Ireland.

Ordered, That on Monday Morning next, at Ten of Clock, the House shall take into Consideration the Supply for the Summer Service in Ireland, according to an Order Yesterday made.

Affairs in Devon, &c.

Mr. Cage, Mr. Rous, Mr. Hollis, Mr. Hill, Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Pym, Mr. Glyn, Sir Walth. Earle, Mr. Rolls, Mr. Martyn, Mr. Bond, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Millington, Mr. Buller, the Burgesses of Cornewall and Devon;

This Committee is to consider of the Letters and Papers inclosed, concerning the Treaty between the Cornish and Devonshire Forces; and to present their Opinions to this House upon the whole Matter: And are to meet this Afternoon, at the Rising of the House, in the Exchequer Chamber.

Capuchins at Somersett House.

Mr. Martyn, Mr. Bond, Sir Jo. Clotworthy, Mr. Gurdon, Sir Jo. Corbett;

This Committee is required to take care, that the former Orders made by this House for the removing of the Capuchins at Somersett House, and demolishing the superstitious Monuments, &c. there, be put in Execution; and that they require any of the Trained Bands of London and Middlesex to be aiding and assisting unto them in the same.

The Question being put, whether the Agent to the King of France should be heard this Morning concerning the said Matter;

That the Agent of the King of France shall be heard this Morning, what he hath to say concerning the Orders formerly made for removing of the Capuchins; and that the Serjeant at Arms do give him Notice thereof.

A Message from the Lords by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heatk;

The Lords desire a present Conference by Committees of both Houses in the Painted Chamber, concerning Instructions that are to be sent with the Committee that is appointed to attend his Majesty concerning the Treaty.

Answer returned by the same Messengers;

That this House will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Mr. Pym, Mr. Hollis, Mr. Waller, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Mr. Pym reports the Conference, that the Lords had agreed to the Instructions concerning the first Article, as it was agreed on by the two Committees; and did deliver it without reading, because no Copies of it might be taken; and have likewise ordered it should not be yet entered in their Book; and desire this House to do the like.

Barkley's Imprisonment.

A Message from the Lords by Serjeant Whitfeild and Serjeant Glanvile;

The Lords have this Day received a Petition from Sir Edw. Barkley, who has been these five Months a Prisoner in the Compter; he is very aged and sickly; and that it would kill him if he should lie long there: That he did desire to be removed to the House of one Ambrose Turner in St. Clement's upon good Security to be a true Prisoner: That their Lordships intend to enlarge him upon Wednesday next, according to his Petition, if they shall receive nothing to the contrary in the mean time:

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Prisoners, to consider of this Message and Petition; and to give an Account of the same, on Monday Morning: And the Care hereof is referred to Mr. Trenchard, who is required to take the Chair for this Business.

House to sit.

A Message from the Lords by Dr. Aylett and Dr. Heath;

The Lords do intend to sit this Afternoon at Four of Clock; and desire this House would do the like, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers;

That this House has resolved to sit this Afternoon at Four of Clock, as is desired.

Treaty with the King.

The House proceeded to the Reading of the Instructions for the Committee appointed to attend his Majesty upon the Treaty: And it was resolved, upon the Question,

That the Name of the Lord Viscount Say and Seale shall be desired, at the Conference, to be inserted into the Instructions for the Committee appointed to attend his Majesty upon the Propositions of the Cessation, and the Treaty.

The particular Articles of the Instructions were particularly read, one by one; and so voted, and, upon the Question, assented unto; with these Additions following:

Ordered, That this Clause shall be added to the Instructions concerning the restoring of his Majesty's Magazines; viz. "And that the Persons, to whose Charge those publick Magazines shall be committed, being nominated by his Majesty, shall be such as the Lords and Commons shall confide in: And you shall propound to his Majesty, that he will restore all such Arms and Ammunition, as have been taken for his Use, from the several Counties, Cities, and Towns."

Resolved, That this Clause shall be added, at the End of the Fourteenth Clause, "None of which Persons shall be removed during three Years, next ensuing, without just Cause, to be approved by Parliament: And if any be so removed, or shall die, within the said Space, the Person to be put into the same Office, shall be such as both Houses shall confide in."

Resolved, &c. That the Clause at the End of the Fifteen Article, concerning the Penalty of High Treason, shall be left out.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Jo. Rushworth, Michaell Welden, Mr. Jo. Corbett, of Grays Inn, Mr. James Chalonor, shall be the Messengers to be employed between the Committee and Parliament, according to the Sixteen Article of the Instructions.

Resolved, &c. That the Committee of this House shall be enjoined to send up a Messenger to this House once in every Two Days at least.

Resolved, &c. That a Copy of the Instructions shall be made; and that Copy sealed up, and kept in Mr. Speaker's Custody, and not entered, until the House shall take further Order.

Conference desired.

Mr. Hatcher went up to the Lords, to desire a Conference, concerning the Matter of the last Conference, touching the Instructions for the Committee appointed to attend his Majesty.

Grant for Prisoners.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom do grant their Warrants to the Treasurer at Wars, to pay unto Sir Wm. Armyn an Hundred Pounds, to be disposed of among the poor Prisoners at Oxon.

Conference.

Mr. Hatcher brings Answer, That the Lords will give a present Meeting at a Conference, by Committees of both Houses, in the Painted Chamber, as is desired.-

Treaty with the King.

Ordered, That the Committee, appointed to attend his Majesty, shall be injoined not to shew or discover their Instructions to any Person whatsoever, or to give any Copy of them.-

Mr. Pym is appointed to manage this Conference.

Sheriffs not to publish King's Proclamations.

Ordered, That the Sheriffs of London and Middlesex shall not publish the Proclamations intituled, a Proclamation, offering his Majesty's gracious Pardon to all Officers, Gunners, Armourers, Gunsmiths, Carpenters, Wheelwrights, and other Artificers belonging to the Office of the Ordnance; and requiring their Attendance at Oxon, before the 18th Day of this Instant March: The Proclamation intituled, A Proclamation, forbidding all Assessing, Collecting and Paying of the Twentieth Part and of all weekly Taxes, by Colour of Orders or Ordinances; and all entering into Protestations and Associations against his Majesty: The Proclamation intituled, A Proclamation concerning his Majesty's Navy, within any of their Liberties or Jurisdictions: And, for their Obedience herein, they shall be saved harmless by Authority of Parliament.

Order revoked.

Resolved, &c. That so much of the Order, made the 13th of February last, concerning Capt. Bond's giving Security, before his going hence, to Madagascar, not to do any Act, whereby the East India Trade may be prejudiced, be revoked and annulled.

Saddles seized.

Ordered, That the Five-and-twenty great Saddles, seized, and brought to Guildhall, shall be forthwith delivered unto Sir Edward Littleton, Mr. Alexander Rigby, for the Service of Lancashire and Staffordshire, in such Manner as they shall direct: and the Treasurers of Guildhall are required to deliver them accordingly.

Message from the Lords by Serjeant Whitfeild and Serjeant Glanvile;

That the Lords do agree to the Alterations made in the Instructions for the Committee appointed to attend his Majesty; and have likewise agreed to the Instructions, and other Desires and Orders, made at the last Conference.
