Scotch Officers.

T HE humble Petition of divers Scotch Officers hereunto subscribing * * * *.

Warrant to Ducye.

Ordered, That Mr. Wm. Ducye, of the Middle Temple Hall, shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant for Himself, and Two Servants, to pass into France.

Rowe's Losses.

The humble Petition of Henry Rowe Gentleman, who lost Eight Horses and a Cart in the Service of the Parliament, at the Battle of Keinton, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom, to inquire into his Damages and Losses; and to give Order for the Satisfaction of them.

Hippisley's Arrears.

Ordered, That the Entertainment appearing to be due unto Captain Edm. Hippisley, for his Entertainment in the late Northern Expedition, be forthwith paid unto Mr. William Hippisley, appointed to receive the same, by a Letter of Attorney under the Hands of the said Captain Edm. Hippisley.

Hickman's Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Henry Hickman, Patron of the Parish Church of Bushey in the County of Hertforde, shall be referred to the Committee for the Parish of Bushye where Mr. White has the Chair.

Saffron Walden Lecturer.

The humble Petition of the Parishioners of Saffron Walden in the County of Essex, was read: And

Ordered, That Mr. William Spaldin, Master of Arts, a learned and orthodox Divine, be recommended to the said Parishioners, to preach a weekly Lecture on such Day of the Week as they shall agree on; and also on every Lord's Day in the Afternoon: And the Vicar of the said Parish, and all other Persons, are hereby required to permit him to preach there without Lett or Interruption.

Army Affairs.

Ld. Fairfax's Letter to the Queen.

A Letter from my Lord Fairefax, of the Third of March, concerning the State of the Army there, and desiring Supply for that Army, was read; and likewise Three Letters inclosed, from Sir Hugh Cholmeley and Captain Hotham, of the 25...27 of February, and the2d of March, concerning the Necessities and Arrears of their Forces; and the Copy of a congratulatory Letter from the Lord Fairefax to the Queen, for her safe Arrival; wherein he promises her the Guard and Protection of his Army and Forces; were all this Day read.

Raising Money.

Mr. Millington reports from the Committee appointed to consider of the Raising of Monies for the Supply of the Army under the Command of the Lord Fairfaxe: Whereupon

It was Resolved, upon the Question, That the Monies remaining in the Hands of Mr. Ashton, a Member of this House, as Receiver of the Duchy Revenue in the County of Lancaster, or in the Hands of his Deputy Receivers, shall be forthwith paid by them to the Lord Fairfaxe, or such as he shall appoint; towards the Maintenance of the Northern Army.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Ashton, and his Deputy Receivers, and his Sureties, shall be kept indemnified, and saved harmless, for Payment of the aforesaid Monies, by both Houses.

Resolved, &c. That the General Receiver for the Duchy of Lancaster be injoined and required to give a Receipt to the said Mr. Ashton, for such Monies of the Duchy as he shall pay to the Lord Fairfaxe.

Resolved, &c. That the particular Receivers of the Duchy of Lancaster, in any Part of the Kingdom, shall be injoined and required to pay such of the Duchy Monies as are in their Hands, or in the Hands of the Deputy Receivers, to the Lord Fairfaxe, or such as he shall appoint: And that they shall be indemnified by both Houses of Parliament.

Resolved, &c. That the Deputy Receiver General of the Duchy of Lancaster shall be forthwith required to attend the House.

Resolved, &c. That the Auditor of the Duchy of Lancaster do present unto this House a Schedule of the Names of the Receivers, and of their ordinary Payments.

Resolved, &c. That the Receivers of the Court of Wards and Liveries, and their Deputies, be injoined to bring in such Monies as are remaining in their or either of their Hands, as Receivers of the Court of Wards.

Ordered, That, at the next Message, the Lords be moved to assess their own Members, upon the Ordinance for the weekly Assessments.

Army Affairs.

Resolved, &c. That the Letters from my Lord Fairefax, this Day read, be forthwith sent, by Mr. Nicoll, to my Lord General: And that it be referred to His Consideration to give my Lord Fairefax Order concerning the Two thousand Men desired by Sir Hugh Cholmely and Mr. Hotham to be sent from his Army to their Forces in the North and East Ridings.

Money for Northern Counties.

Mr. Blakiston, Mr. Darley, Mr. Rigby, Sir Wm. Allenson, and Sir Henry Mildmay, are to consider of some Propositions for Preparing of Monies for the Service of the Northern Counties: And are to meet when and where they please.

Dutch Ships at Burdlington.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Armyn, Sir Henry Mildmay, Mr. Green, and Mr. Marten, do acquaint the Earl of Warwick with the Letter of Sir Hugh Cholmeley, and Mr. Hotham, concerning the Dutch Ships lying still at Burdlington, with some Design, as is apprehended, upon Hull; and to desire his Lordship to take some speedy Course to send down some Strength of Shipping to those Parts, to prevent the Inconveniences that may happen by those Ships.

Money for Army.

Resolved, &c. That Ten thousand Pounds, Residue of that which was formerly ordered to be paid for the Supply of the Army in Yorkshire, shall be advanced for the farther Supply of that Army.

Resolved, &c. That this Ten thousand Pounds shall be paid by Two thousand Five hundred Pounds every Fifteen Days, for the Uses aforesaid, till the said Sum of Ten thousand Pounds be paid; the first Payment to begin the Seventeenth of March.

Resolved, &c. That the small Tythes of the Vicarage of Hallifaxe and Burstoll shall be sequestred to the Uses aforesaid; the Vicar of Hallifaxe being a great Delinquent to the Parliament.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Supplies of Yorkshire where Mr. Millington has the Chair, shall have Power to call before them all the King's Receivers, as well of the Duchy of Lancaster, as of the Exchequer, and Court of Wards; and to require them to bring in to the Committee such Monies as are or shall be in their several Hands, as Receivers, to be employed for the Relief of the Northern Army, under the Command of the Lord Fairfaxe: And Mr. Nicholas, Mr. Tate, Mr. More, Mr. Trenchard, Sir Jo. Curson, and Mr. Ashton, are added to the Committee: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, &c.: And are to meet this Afternoon at Four Clock, in the Court of Exchequer.

Merchant Adventurers, &c.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Armyn, Mr. Trenchard, and Mr. Whitlocke, do speak with the Merchant Adventurers, and desire them, from this House (in regard of the pressing Occasion and Obligation to make Payment of Part of the Brotherly Assistance) to give way, that Four thousand Pounds be forthwith paid out of the first Monies designed unto them, for their Twenty thousand Pounds, to Mr. Dick, for the Use of the Scotts Commissioners, towards the Brotherly Assistance.

King's Letter to Merchant Adventurers.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of the King's Letter to the Merchant Adventurers, for Advance of Monies, do bring in their Report To-morrow Morning.

Searle's Losses.

Ordered, That the Petition of Geo. Searle of Southmyns, in the County of Middlesex, Carter, be referred to the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom: And that, if it appear to them the Petitioner received the Losses at the Battle of Keinton, mentioned in his Petition, that then they do give Warrant to the Treasurer at Wars, to pay the same accordingly.

New England.

Ordered, That Mr. Rigbie do bring in to this House an Order concerning New England, according to the Sense of the House.

Scotch Prisoners.

Ordered, That the House do take into Consideration, To-morrow, the Report concerning the Sending the Scoch Officers that are Prisoners to Scotland, to be there proceeded against as Incendiaries.

Warrants for Payment of Money.

Mr. Pymme, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Cage, Mr. Bond, Mr. Holland;

This Committee has Power to peruse every Order or Warrant formerly, or that shall be, made by this House, or the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom, for the Payment of any Monies by the Treasurer at Wars, or by any of the Treasurers at Guildhall; and to appoint (under their Hands in Writing) such of the said Warrants to be first paid, as they shall find most conducing to the Service of the House and Kingdom: And the Treasurer at Wars, and the Treasurers at Guildhall, are hereby required not to dispose of any Monies, upon any of the said Warrants, contrary to this Order: And they are particularly to take Care for the speedy Payment of the Scotch Reformado Officers; and also of Captain Pimme, for the Arrears due unto him; and for the Payment of Two hundred Pounds formerly ordered to Sir Edward Boys, for Payment of the Garison at Dover.

Contribution for Ireland.

Resolved, &c. That whatsoever Monies are in Arrear upon the Act of Loan and Contribution, for Relief of Ireland, passed this Parliament, as the same shall be brought to the Treasurers Hands, be disposed of for that Purpose only, by the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, and by their Direction.
