PRAYERS.

Ship Money.

MR. Glinne reports from the general Committee for Grievances, that it is presented unto them, by the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, that the Ship Money is taken, received, and complained of as a Grievance by all the Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, of England and Wales.

Occupancy.

Fast Day.

Mr. Secretary Windebank-"According to Order, we met the Lords.-That, if this House think fit, they will be content, that both Houses should meet, to celebrate the Fast, on Saturday come Sevennight."

Saturday come Sevennight appointed for a Fast for both Houses.

Mr. Secretary Windebank to signify unto the Lords, that this House doth assent to their Proposition of Saturday come Sevennight for a Fast.

Resolved, upon the Question,-Dr. Olseworth, Mr. Marshall, to be entreated to preach at the Fast, to be observed on Saturday come Sevennight by this House.

[Resolved, upon] the Question,-[Dr. Brounrick] to be intreated to preach, when this House [shall receive] the Sacrament.

The Place for receiving the Sacrament, St. Margaret's, Westminster;-the Day, the next Day after the Fast;- the Hour, Eight of Clock.

Sir Arth. Ingram, Mr. Rouse, Mr. Gage, Sir Jo. Wray, Sir W. Erle, Sir Wm. Masham, the Two Burgesses of Westminster, to view former Order, and accordingly to settle this Business of the Communion.

The Serjeant to go with his Mace to every Court, to give Notice, and require the Lawyers, and other Members of the House, to attend the House.

Lord Cranfield waves Bramber in Sussex, and chooses to serve for Liverpoole in Leicestershire.

Precedence to Members in Courts.

The Judges to be moved, to give Precedence in their Motions to all such Lawyers as are Members of this House.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Lentall shall take the Chair at this Committee.

Mr. Speaker reassumed the Chair.

Improper Words by a Member.

Mr. Lentall reports from the Committee-Words spoken by Mr. Peard, very ill taken by the Committee.

-He did conceive, it had been voted in the House.

Upon that Mistake, he said,

"Ship Money was an Abomination." Speaking of Religion,-"That he that had no Religion was a Devil.

"He did desire, there might be an English Ear."-

He having acknowledged his Offence to the Committee; it is referred to the House, what to do in it.

Mr. Peard, standing in his Place, did acknowledge, that he had offended the House, in several Words that fell from him.-With which Acknowledgment this House is satisfied.

Upon Question, Mr. Peard cleared and purged from that his Error.

Grievances.

Mr. Lentall reported from the Committee of the whole House, that the Committee had resolved, Upon the Question, That we shall consult with the Lords, to prevent Innovation in Matter of Religion; and concerning the Property of our Goods; and Liberties, and Privileges of Parliament; the better to give a present Supply to his Majesty.

Upon this Report, it was

Ordered, upon the Question, That we shall consult with the Lords, to prevent Innovation in Matter of Religion; and concerning the Property of our Goods; and Liberties, and Privileges of Parliament; the better to prepare us to give an Answer to his Majesty touching Supply.
