PRAYERS.

Irish Army Pay, &

PROPOSITIONS for taking off the present Disbursement of certain considerable Sums of Money for Pay and Provision for the Army in Ireland, read; and referred to the Committee for Adventures; with the Addition of Sir H. Mildmay, and Sir Wm. Strickland, and Mr. Wheeler: and Sir H. Mildmay is, in particular, desired to take Care hereof.

Committee for Informations.

Ordered, That Sir H. Mildmay, Sir Tho. Cheeke, Mr. Rous, Mr. Morley, Mr. Pury, Sir H. Ludlow, Mr. Jo. Moor, Sir Dudley North, be added to the Committee for Informations.

Answer to King's Message.

Ordered, That Sir Ro. Pye, Mr. Browne, Mr. Rous, be added to the Committee appointed to prepare an Answer to his Majesty's last Message, concerning an Hundred thousand Pounds lent by the Committee for Adventurers to the Committee for Defence of the Kingdom.

M. Bryatt's Goods.

Ordered, That the Earl of Warwick be desired, that Monsieur Bryatt may have Delivery of his Wearing Apparel; and all other his Goods stayed at Scarborough, not belonging to Minting and Coining of Monies.

Apprehending Greenvile, &c.

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms shall have the Assistance of the Committee in Cornewall, for the Apprehending of Sir Bevile Grenvile, Sir Nicholas Slaning, Mr. Jo. Arundell, and the High Sheriff of Cornewall, and others in that County, sent for, as Delinquents, by Order of this House.

Sir J. Strangewayes, &c.

The House not being satisfied with the Answer of Sir Jo. Strangewayes, do injoin, that he, his Son, Mr. Giles Strangewayes, and Mr. Rogers, be injoined to be here on Monday come Se'nnight; or else the House doth declare, that they will proceed against them, for their Contempt of the Orders of this House.

Members to be summoned.

Ordered, That Sir Christopher Hatton, Sir Robert Hatton, Mr. Jeffrey Palmer, Sir Robert Napier, be summoned forthwith to attend the Service of the House, all Excuses laid aside; and that they be here on Monday come Se'nnight at farthest.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Pury shall have Leave to go into Glocestershire.

Warrant read.

A Warrant, dated Worcester, August 5; 1642, directed to Mr. Serjeant Wilde, for the Shewing such Horse and Arms as he now stands charged; signed by the Hands of the Lord Coventrye, Sir Jo. Packington, Sir H. Herbert, and Mr. Sam. Sandys, Members of this House, and others, was this Day read.

Members disabled to sit.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Jo. Packington, Sir H. Herbert, Mr. Sam. Sandys, shall be disabled for sitting any longer Members of this House, during this Parliament; for putting in Execution the Commission of Array, which both Houses have declared illegal; And that Warrants shall issue for new Writs for Electing of new Burgesses to serve in their Places.

Doldswell's Delinquency.

There was an Information given, That Mr. Dolds .... * * *

Resolved, upon the Question, That Mr. Doldswell, an Attorney in the Common Peas, be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent, for being active and assisting to the Putting the Commission of Array in Execution.

Disabling Members to sit, &c.

Referred to the Committee appointed to consider of such Members as are absent, to prepare a Declaration concerning the Disabling of divers Members of this House, and the Causes of their Disabling; and to consider of some convenient Way for the House to be filled.

Dep. Lieut of Cambridge.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth nominate and approve of Francis Russell, to be Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Cambridge.

Absent Members.

Ordered, That Mr. Hill, on Tuesday next, do make Report of the Business concerning the absent Members.

Message to Lords.

Sir Ro. Harley carried up to the Lords the Order concerning Southwarke; the Order concerning the Indemnity of Mr. Walton, and Mr. Cromwell; and Mr. F. Russell, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridge.

I. of Wight.

Ordered, That these Particulars from the Isle of Wight be recommended to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom: And that they forthwith take into Consideration some speedy Course for the Defence and Safety of that Island.

Hotham's Pay.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Jo. Hotham shall have Five Pounds per Diem for his Entertainment as Governor of Hull: And that the Lords be moved to join herein.

Benyon's Money.

Resolved, &c. That Benyon's Monies, stayed by Order of this House, and now remaining in the Chamber of London, shall continue there still, until this Honse shall take farther Order; notwithstanding the Order made in this Business of the 19th of this present August.

Raising Eorces.

Resolved, &c. That the Lord of Kerry shall have a Commission for the Raising and Transporting of Two thousand Men, One thousand for his own Regiment, and another for recruiting the Forces in Munster, at the Charge of the Adventurers.

Resolved, &c. That the Officers for these Regiments shall be chosen out of such Reformadoes as have been Losers in Ireland, and such as are not listed in the English Service.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth approve of the Lord Kerry to be the first Captain, of Captain St. Leger to be Lieutenant Colonel to the Lord Kerry, of Captain Peasley to be Serjeant Major, of Captain Muschamp, to be second Captain, of Captain Wm. Hide to be third Captain, of Captain Watts to be fourth Captain, of Captain Ric. Oldsworth to be fifth Captain, of Captain Ric: Fitzmorris to be sixth Captain, of Captain Hen. Delawne to be seventh Captain, of Captain Henry Fletcher to be tenth Captain.

Resolved, &c. That it be referred to the Lord of Kerry, to make Choice of his Lieutenants and Ensigns: And that he be answerable to the Parliament for them.

Agent to Holland.

Mr. Pym presented from the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, a Letter of Credit to Mr. Walter Strictland, who is appointed by both Houses to attend the States General of the United Provinces; with a Declaration of both Houses, expressing the Reasons that move both Houses to take up Arms.....; and, by Vote upon the Question assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Trained Bands.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom, to consider of some Order for the Raising of the Trained Bands in all Counties.

Commission of Array.

Ordered, That Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Browne, and Mr. Corbett, do prepare an Order for all Counties to apprehend the Persons of all such as shall advance the Execution of the Commission of Array.

Person discharged.

Resolved, That Tho. Bowyer shall be forthwith discharged from any further Attendance.

Post Meridiem

Provisions for Ireland.

ORDERED, That the Treasurers appointed to receive the Monies that come ... upon the Subscription from the Adventurers for Ireland, do forthwith pay unto Mr. Frost, Commissary for Ireland, for making Provision of Victuals for Ireland, the Sum of Five thousand Pounds, out of such Monies as comes in upon the said Adventure.

Order vacated.

Ordered, That the former Order of the 15th of August, for Payment of the Five thousand Pounds to Mr. Frost, by the Treasurers of London, be vacated.

Volunteers.

The Order for Colebrooke, for the Volunteers to train there, was read; and, upon the Question, assented unto; being the same with the Order for Shrowsbury.

The like Order for Bridporte in Dorsettshire, was read; with this Addition; "that they have Power to fortify, and to nominate and appoint, from time to time, a Captain, and other Officers, to train and muster the Inhabitants of the said Town and Borough."

And the like Order for Taunton: Which, upon the Question, was likewise assented unto; and ordered to be sent up to the Lords.

Ordered, That the like Order be made for Taunton in Somersettshire.

Declaration to Yorkeshire.

Mr. Pym reports the Declaration to be sent into Yorkeshire, in Answer to the Letter from Yorkeshire: Which was likewise read and assented unto; and ordered to be carried to the Lords, to desire their Concurrence therein.

Sir Philip Stapleton carried up the said Two Orders, and this Declaration to the Lords, in a Message.

Message from Lords.

Message from the Lords, by Sir Rob. Riche and Mr. Page;

That the Lords had sent them with Three Orders: 1. For the Disarming of the Earl of Worcester, and all Papists; wherein they desire the Concurrence of this House. 2. An Order agreed unto by both Houses, for the Transporting of Fifteen Thousand Pounds to Knockfergus, with this Amendment; instead of the Word "Chester," add, "in the Downes, or elsewhere." 3. An Order, requiring the Officers of the Ordnance and Ammunition, to deliver the Keys to such as the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom shall appoint.

Money for Scotts.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth consent to the Amendment in the Order for Transporting of Fifteen thousand Pounds to the Scotts, to Knockfergus.

Ordnance Office.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth consent to the Order for the Officers of the Ordnance to deliver the Keys.

Answer to Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House agrees to the Orders for Knockfergus, and the Officers of the Ordnance: And as to that of disarming the Earl of Worcester, will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Ordnance Office.

IT is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That the several Officers of the Ordnance, and of the Armoury in the Tower of London, respectively, shall forthwith, upon Sight of this Order, deliver the Keys of the Office of the Ordnance, Arms, Ammunition, and Stores there, and of the Office of the Armoury, to such as the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom shall appoint to receive them; or else, that the Doors of the said Office shall be forthwith broken up: And the Charges and Keeping of the said Arms shall be committed into the Hands of such as the said Committee shall think fit: Who shall take Inventories of the same, to the Intent that a true Account may be taken of the said Arms, to the Use of his Majesty, the Parliament, and the Kingdom.

Affairs at Cirencester.

A Letter from Glocestershire was read, of the Proceedings at Cirencester in Gloucestershire; of the Proceedings of the Lord Chandoys about the Commission of Array; and ordered to be printed.

Drums, &c. to Northampton.

Ordered, That Three Drums and Six Halberds be sent to Northampton.

Dep. Lieuts. of Worcester.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth approve of Mr. Jo. Kite, Wm. Jefferies, and Mr. Tho. Graves, to be Deputy Lieutenants for the County of Worcester.

Message to Lords.

Sir Ph. Stapleton carried up to the Lords the Declaration to be sent into Yorkeshire; and the Orders for Colebrooke and Bridporte.

Hill's, &c. Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Arthur Hill, Thomas Roberts, Thomas Kaylock, Edward Gynes, Elizabeth Priddye Widow, and Henry Cooper, being poor People lately come out of Ireland, be referred to the Committee for Contribution; to take their Necessity into Consideration.
