Irish Affairs, Estimates of such * of Money as are forthwith to be employed * * Service of Ireland, upon Warrants issued * the Lords and other Commissioners for the Affairs of Ireland: The which were read; and allowed: And it is referred to the Commissioners for the Affairs of Ireland, and to the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom: And they are to confer together how these Monies for these Particulars, may be supplied with the best Conveniency of both Kingdoms.

Tower Hamletteers.

Mr. Strode is appointed to move the Earl of Holland, to take some Course for the Putting the Hamletteers within the Liberty of the Tower, in some way of Defence.

Serj. Hide's Petition.

The humble Petition of Serjeant Hide, * a Prisoner in the Tower, by Order of this House, was this Day read:

Lieutenant of Gloucester.

* upon the Question, That this House doth nominate and approve * the Lord Viscount Say and Seale, to be Lieutenant * the County of Gloucester, and of the City and the County of the City of Gloucester: The which Sir Robert Coke is to carry up to the Lords.

Transporting Horses, &c.

Ordered, That the Searchers and Officers at Rie be required to take special Care that no Horses be henceforth transported, without special Order of both Houses of Parliament: and this House doth appoint Captain Cockeran to be Clerk of the Passage for that Town: And this House doth require him to have * vigilant Eye in the Execution of that P ...; and to do the Service belonging to that Place, * ... mer Clerks of the Passage there have usually done, by virtue of any Grant, or Commission, from the Lord Warden.

Volunteers Indemnity, &c.

The humble Petition of several Inhabitants, in and about St. Albanes, in the County of Herts, first delivered unto the Earl of Essex, and by him sent down to this House.

[a] Ordered, That such Persons, Volunteers, of the Town of St. Albanes, and the Towns adjacent, that will voluntarily come in, and train and exercise themselves in Arms, under the Commands of Mr. Alban Coxe for the Horse, and Mr. Jo. Marshe for the Foot, may freely do it; and shall have the Protection and Power of Parliament for their Indemnity.

Ordered, That the Lord Cramborne, Lord Lieutenant of the County of Herts, be injoined to put in Execution the Ordinance for the Militia, in the County of Hertford, on this Day Sevennight; and, if he fail, that then the Deputy Lieutenants do put the same in Execution.

The Gentlemen of St. Albans, that preferred the Petition, were called in: And Mr. Speaker, by the Command of the House, told them, That this House has read their Petition; and find it full of Respect and Affection to his Majesty, to the Parliament, and to the Commonwealth: And they have granted your Petition, that the Volunteers may be trained and exercised under the Commands of the Men named in your Petition.

Twysden's Petition.

The humble Petition of Sir Roger Twysden, who is in Restraint in the Serjeant's Custody, for his Liberty to go down into the Country, was read:

Defaulters in Subscriptions.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Evelyn do report To-morrow, the Defaulters of this House, that have not brought in their Horse, Money, and Plate, according to their several Subscriptions.

Rotchford Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Captain, and other Officers, of the Band of Volunteers, of the Hundred of Rotchford, in the County of Essex; and the Minister and People of the Town of Raleigh; be referred to Mr. Bury, a Justice of Peace in the said County; to proceed upon it, according as to Justice shall appertain.

English Protestants from Ireland.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of certain distressed English Protestants lately come from Ireland, be referred to the speedy Consideration of the Committee for the Irish Contribution; for their Relief: And Ordered, That in regard Mr. Wheeler is absent, that they do chuse a new Chairman; and proceed in Consideration of the said Petition: And are to meet at Four.. Clock this Afternoon, in the Court of Wards: And Mr. Knightley, Mr. Corbett, Mr. Whittacres, Sir Wm. Masham, Mr. Bodvile, Mr. Ashton, Sir Rob. Pye, Sir Rob. Harley, Sir Jo. Franklyn, Mr. Hill, Sir Hugh Owen, Mr. Smith, Mr. Trenchard, Sir Edw. Boys, Mr. Mathewes, Mr. Greene, Mr. Nicholls, Mr. Hallowes, Mr. Blakeston, Mr. Spurstoe, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Goodwyn, Mr. Rolls, Mr. Bents, and the Citizens of London, are added to this Committee.

Forth's, &c. Petitions.

Ordered, That the Petitions of Sir Rob. Forth Knight, Math. Derense Esquire, Edw. Torleton Esquire, and Hen. Broome Esquire, all Members of the House of Commons in Ireland; and the humble Petition of Wm. Bellissis; are referred to the Committee for the Contribution Money for Ireland: And this Committee is to take into Consideration the several Petitions formerly presented by Dr. Jones, on the Behalf of the Poor in Ireland.

Lieutenant of Kent.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth nominate and approve of the Earl of Pembroke, to be Lieutenant of the County of Kent: And

Worcester Magazine.

Mr. Salloway desired, That some Additions may be added to the Instructions for Worcestershire, concerning the Magazine of that County: The which were read; and assented unto.

Money stayed.

Mr. Hill, Sir H. Mildmay, * Armyn, * Strode, * Harley, * Wentworth, Sir Wm. Strickland, Mr. Corbett, Mr. Beding field, Mr. Cage, are added to the Committee appointed to look after the Monies that were Yesterday stayed of Sir Geo. Benyon's: And the Examination of this whole Business is referred to their Consideration: And they are to meet upon it this Afternoon at Four of Clock, in the Court of Wards: And have Power to send for Parties.

Fresingfield Lecturers.

Upon the humble Petition of the Inhabitants of Fresingfield in Suffolk, desiring that Mr. Brian Wetherall, and Mr. Geo. Fenne, both honest and orthodoxal Ministers may be recommended unto them, to be their Lecturers, to preach in their Parish Church every Thursday Weekly, was this Day read: And the House, upon Reading thereof, does recommend the said Mr. Wetherell, and Mr. Fenne, to be their Lecturers; to preach there every Thursday Weekly, as is desired; and do require that the Incumbent of the said Parish do suffer them to execute their Ministry there, without any Lett or Interruption, accordingly.

Goods to be stayed.

Mr. Greene reports from the Committee of the Navy: Whereupon

It was Resolved, upon the Question, That the Officers of the Customs whom it may concern, be required to make Stay of the Lading of any Goods belonging to; or entered under the Names of, Tho. Hendry, Jo. Tompson, and Jo. Robinson, Jo. Allen, and Walter Boothby, until the House shall take further Order.

Persons to attend Committee.

Ordered, That Tho. Hendrill, Jo. Robinson, and Jo. Thompson, shall be forthwith summoned to attend the Committee of the Navy at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Treasury-chamber.

Mr. Rigby reports the Order concerning Dr. Bastwicke and Mr. Ludlow: Which was read; and assented unto: And

Ordered, That the Lords be moved therein.

Licence to Baineton.

Ordered, That Mr. Baineton shall have Licence to carry to Wiltshire Three Horses, Four Saddles, and Five Case of Pistols.

Sheriff of Dorsettshire.

Ordered, That the Serjeant do send another Messenger for the Apprehending of the Sheriff of Dorsettshire.

Lieutenant of Kent, &c.

Ordered, That Sir Wm. Armyn do move the Lords to join with this House in nominating the Earl of Pembroke Lord Lieutenant of the County of Kent; and to desire them, That the Earl of Bedford may go presently into the County of Somersett, and the Earl of Pembroke into the County of Wilts.

Chichester Magazine.

Ordered, That, in the Letter that is to go into Sussex, those that are injoined to keep the Magazine at Chichester, be injoined to resist those that shall take the Magazine contrary to the Order of this House.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Shugborough shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Dartmouth Port.

Ordered, That the Forty Pounds per Annum, formerly due, and of long time yearly paid out of the Customs that are collected at the Ports of Exon or Dartmouth, towards the Reparation and Provision of his Majesty's Forts within the Port of Dartmouth, shall be continued, and duly paid out of the said Customs, together with the Arrears due: And the Collectors, Farmers, and other Receivers of the Customs of the Ports of Exon and Dartmouth, or either of them, are hereby required to pay the same accordingly.

Billeting Soldiers.

The Order presented by Sir Chr. Wray, for the Town of Boston to oppose Billeting of Soldiers, was read; and assented unto: And

Ordered, That he do move the Lords to join therein.

Ditto.

Ordered, The like Order be made for Worcester.

Person sent for.

Resolved, &c. That Tho. Luther shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

Pembrokeshire.

Ordered, Mr. Wogan do carry down with him the Instructions for Pembrokeshire.

Allowance to Vigors.

Ordered, upon the humble Petition of Urbanus Vigors, Vicar of Letrim in the County of Corne, in Ireland, and upon a Certificate made of his Losses; That the said Urbanus Vigors shall have Forty Pounds allowed him out of the Contribution Money for Ireland, collected in the County of Devon: And the Treasurers or Collectors thereof, or in whose Hands else the said Monies are, are appointed to pay the same accordingly: And his Acquittance shall be your sufficient Discharge upon your Accompts.

Minhead Election.

Ordered, That the Petition concerning the Election of Minhead be referred to the Committee for Privileges.

Lord Lieut. of Kent.

Sir Jo. Evelyn brings Answer, The Lords concur in nominating the Earl of Pembroke Lord Lieutenant of the County of Kent.

Irish Affairs.

Letter from the Lord Forbes was read, of the Proceedings in Ireland, about Kinsale.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir Hugh Owen shall have Leave to go into the Country.

Murders in Northampton.

Ordered, That the Informations taken by the Mayor of Northampton, concerning Murders and Abuses done by the Troopers, upon certain of his Majesty's Subjects, about the Town of Killesby in the County of Northampton, be forthwith printed.
