Protections.

The humble Petition of divers of the Citizens of London was this Day read; and ordered to be referred to the Committee for the Bill concerning Protections: And this Committee has Power to hear the Petition; and to receive their Reasons, and the Names of such as they complain of; and to consider of them; and to report them to the House, together with the Bill, with all convenient Speed: And that Committee is to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequerchamber: And Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Glyn, Sir John Colpepper, Sir Symond D'Ewes, Sir John Hotham, Sir Gilbert Gerrard, and Sir Arthur Ingram, are added to this Committee.

Disbanding the Army.

Ordered, That the Committee, formerly appointed to prepare Heads for Directions to the Lord General, for the better Disbanding the Army, to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Treasury-chamber.

Repaying Loans from Members.

Ordered, That the Treasurers appointed by the Act for the Subsidies shall be hereby directed and authorized forthwith to pay unto those Members of the House, that lent and paid in any Monies before the Ninth of March, all such Monies, as they have lent: And those that first paid in the Monies, first to be satisfied, with the Damages, according to the Dates of their Acquittances, and, according to the Directions of the Act of Parliament.

Collectors Accounts.

That a Committee may be appointed * * * *

Sir Robert Pye, Mr. Pym, Sir John Colpepper, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Greene, * Fanshawe, Sir Walter Erle, Sir Peter Wroth, Mr. Cage, Sir Arthur Ingram, Sir Robert Harley, * Brett, Sir Tho. Barrington, Sir Gilbert Gerrard, * Pary;

This Committee is to prepare an Order for taking the Accounts, of the Collectors and Sheriffs, of such Monies as shall be paid unto them by force of an Act for the speedy Provision of Monies for disbanding the Armies, &c.; and that the Duplicate of Certificates shall be delivered to the Auditors, to take Accounts thereof: And Sir Thomas Fanshawe is to return a List of such Collectors as have brought in their Accounts, and Monies, due by the Act of the Four Subsidies; that it may appear who has brought in, and who not: And the Auditors are to certify, what particular Men have been discharged of Subsidies, upon both: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Treasury-chamber.

Customers - Garraway's Case.

Mr. Greene reports from the Committee for the Customers, the Case concerning Sir Hen. Garraway: - Fifteen thousand and odd hundred Pounds are found to be in his Hands, of his clear Gain: And, upon Question, re-committed.

Billet ndash; money.

Ordered, That the Bill for Billet-money be reported To-morrow Morning.

Abolishing Episcopacy.

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Committee, to proceed with the Bill concerning Episcopacy.

Committee to attend the Queen.

A Message from the Lords, by J. Reeve and J. Heath;

The Lords sent us with this Message; That, according to his Majesty's Pleasure, signified to both Houses Yesterday, the Lords had made choice of Six of their House to meet with a proportionable Number of this House to attend her Majesty this Afternoon, at Three of Clock: And they do desire, that That proportionable Number may meet with their Committee presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House, to confer of the Heads to be presented unto her Majesty.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers;

This House * * * * ; and are resolved, that a select Committee, of a proportionable Number, shall presently meet with the select Committee of the Lords.

Raising Money.

That a new Order should be conceived, in the same Words, to the full Meaning of this Order of the Eighth of July, bearing the Date of this Day; and that this Order may extend well to Commissioners and Treasurers.

That the Citizens of London name the Lord Mayor, &c. to give all expedition to the raising of the Monies payable.

Ordered, That the Order of the Eighth of July shall be divided into Two Orders: And that That Part, which concerns the Lord Mayor of Yorke, shall be put into an Order by itself, and bear this Day's Date.

Smart's Business.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of the Message from the Lords, concerning Mr. Smart 's Business be revived; to sit To-morrow in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Star-Chamber.

Fisher's Petition.

And it is Ordered, That the humble Petition of Edm. Fisher Gentleman, this Day offered to the House, shall be referred to the Consideration of this Committee.

Leave of Absence.

Mr. Herbert has Leave to go into the Country.

Trees on Bishops, &c. Lands.

Ordered, That all the Bishops, Deans and Chapters, and Prebends, shall be hereby respectively prohibited to cut down any Timber Trees, growing upon any Lands belonging to any Bishop, Dean and Chapter, or Prebend, until this House shall take further Order therein: And that they shall be answerable for any Timber Trees they have cut down since the first Day of this Parliament.

Deane Forest.

Ordered, That the Committee for Forests, for the Opening of the Commission of Surveyery returned from the Forest of Deane, shall sit this Afternoon, in the Exchequer-chamber.

Bills to be read.

Ordered, That the Two ingrossed Bills concerning the Protestation and the Forests, shall be read To-morrow Morning.

Queen's Journey.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair: And

Mr. Hollis made a Report from the select Committee appointed to meet the select Committee of the Lords, touching the Queen's Journey; and presented the same in Writing; Which was read; and Resolved, upon the Question, That it should be the Substance of that which is to be presented to the Queen's Majesty, this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, in the Name of both Houses.

Knighthood-money.

Ordered, That the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses, that serve for the Counties of Bucks, Northampton, and Cornewall, shall be added to the Committee for Knighthood-money.

Merchant Adventurers:

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to consider of the Patents granted to the Merchant Adventurers, touching the Transportation of Cloths, be authorized to receive, from Sir Robert Harley, all such Grants, Patents, Petitions, or other Books or Writings whatsoever, which are in his Custody, concerning that Business: And Sir Robert Harley is ordered by this House, to deliver the same accordingly.

And the said Committee has Power to consider of all such Complaints as are or shall be made, touching the Matters referred unto them.

Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Committee, To-morrow at Eight of Clock, to proceed with the Bill of Episcopacy.

Ordered, That the Sub-Comittee appointed to consider of the Votes of the Grand Committee, touching the Bill of Episcopacy, do meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Star-chamber.

Clerk to subscribe Orders.

Ordered, That the Clerk do subscribe his Hand to such Orders as are printed by Order of this House, concerning the Levying of the Monies to be raised by this Act.

Raising Money.

Ordered, That the Citizens and Burgesses, that serve for the City of London, do inform themselves, what Monies are already paid into the Chamber of the City, by virtue of the Act of Parliament for the speedy Provision of Monies for Disbanding of the Armies; and to give Account to this House, To-morrow Morning at Nine of Clock; and so from Day to Day, at the same Hour, to inform this House, what Monies are daily paid in; and where the Obstruction is, that Monies are not paid, according to the said Act; and so likewise, that speedy Course may be taken against such as are backward therein.

Ordered, That the same Order be made for the Commissioners for Westminster.
