Council in the Lords.

MR. Prideaux has Leave to be of Counsel before the Lords.

Person to be summoned.

Ordered, That Wm. Sherract be summoned to appear before the House, to answer his Offence, in abusing Sir Wm. Armyn's Name to a Protection.

Ministers in Wales.

The humble Petition of certain Ministers of Wales, authorized by a Committee of this Honourable House to preach where was want of Preaching:

Walter Craddocke, One of them that subscribed the Petition, was called in; and did avow the Petition: And

It is Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the Committee for scandalous Ministers, where Mr. Corbett has the Chair. And it is likewise

Ordered, That the Parties complained of in that Petition be summoned to appear before that Committee.

Disbanding the Army.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the House holds it fit, that the Lords be moved to desire his Majesty, that a Proclamation may presently go down, to declare, that those that should disobey the Lord General, or disobey their Officers, in disbanding the Army, shall be punished severely, as in Contempt of the Power of the King and Parliament.

Next is, that a Message be sent to the Lords.

Resolved, upon the Question, That a Command shall be given to the High Sheriff of every County, the Lord Lieutenants, Deputy Lieutenants, and the Justices of Peace, to give Aid and Assistance; and call unto them such as they shall think fit for Assistance; to the safe Conduct of such Soldiers as shall pass through their several Counties, till they come to their own Homes.

That Sir John Hotham shall go up to the Lords with a Message, upon these Heads.

Phillipps, a Priest.

Mr. Hollis reports the Business concerning Robert Phillipps, the Romish Priest * * * *

That the Serjeant injoin Robert Phillipps, that he attend the Committee of Seven, at all such times as he shall be by them required.

That the Committee of Seven examine Phillips concerning his Servants, and who recommended them.

Conference.

Ordered, That Mr. Pym bring the Heads of the Conference, together with the Reasons delivered at a Committee of both Houses on Thursday last, in Writing, that the House may further consider of them what is fit to be done.

Seducing Children to Popery, &c.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the Popish Hierarchy, to inquire what Pensions are allowed to Phillips, or others, for seducing the Children of Protestants from the true Religion to Popery; and what Pensions are allowed for the Maintenance of Seminaries beyond the Seas; and what Pensions are given for the Maintenance of Priests within the Kingdom: To meet on Monday at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards: And they are especially to send for Browne a Priest, in the Gate-house.

Charge against Bp. of Canterbury.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire their Lordships to appoint a Committee, that, in Presence of some Members of this House, may examine such Witnesses as shall be proposed (either Members of their House, or others) concerning the Charge against the Bishop of Canterbury.

Answer from Lords.

Sir John Hotham brings Answer, that their Lordships will move the King, that Proclamation shall go forth; and that they will acquaint this House with his Majesty's Answer, and with the other Particulars, with all Conveniency they can.

Conference.

Mr. Hollis is appointed to go to the Lords, to acquaint their Lordships, that this House is ready to give their Lordships a Meeting, at such time as they shall think fit, concerning the Conference desired Yesterday, touching the Two Bills of Westminister.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker leave the Chair.

Poll-money.

Mr. Hide resumed the Chair: And the Committee proceeded with reading the Bill of Poll-money.

King's Journey to Scotland.

A Message from the Lords by the Master of the Rolls and Sir Edward Leech;

The Lords desire a Conference, by a select Committee of this House, in the Painted Chamber, presently, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House (-Their Lordships have appointed a Committee of Twelve): It is touching the Time of the King's going into Scotland.

Answer returned by the same Messengers;

This House will give them a Meeting presently, by a proportionable Number, as is desired.

King's Journey to Scotland.

That the Lords [shall] be [desired,] forthwith to [move his] Majesty, in the Name of both Houses, to give his Answer to the Proposition, concerning his Majesty's Journey into [Scotland.]

Sir Gilbert Gerrard went to the Lords with this Message; to desire a Conference by the same Committee, concerning the last Conference had with the Lords, touching [the King's] Journey into [Scotland.]

Leave of Absence.

Mr. Erle has Leave to go into the Country.

Mr. Lucas has Leave to wait upon the Lord General to the Army.

Star-chamber and High Commission.

Mr. Hollis brings Answer, concerning the Message touching the Two Bills of Star-chamber and High Commission; the Lords will sit this Afternoon, and will give a Meeting.

Mr. Maynard, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Holborne, Mr. Selden, Mr. Reignolds, Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Rigby, Sir John Colpepper, Mr. Pym, Mr. Whitlocke, Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Vaughan, Sir Tho. Widdrington, Mr. White, Mr. Bagshawe, Mr. Hide, Serjeant Wilde, are appointed Managers of the Conference.

Book of Rates.

That the Committee for the Book of Rates do meet on Tuesday next at Two post meridiem, in the Starchamber.

The Customers and Merchants are required to be there.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Thomas Aston shall be forthwith [sent] for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms [attending] on this House, for his Contempt to [this] House, [in not] appearing upon the Summons of [a] Committee of this House.

Conference agreed to.

Sir Gilbert Gerrard brings Answer, that [their] Lordships will give a present Meeting, by the [same] select Committee.

Provision of Monies.

Mr. Hide was called to the Chair: And the Committee proceeded with the Bill for the speedy Provision of Monies for disbanding the Armies, and settling the Peace of the Kingdom.

Mr. Hide reports from the Grand Committee, that, in the Bill, intituled, An Act for the speedy Provision of Monies for disbanding the Armies, and settling the Peace between the Kingdoms, they have not at all rated the Nobility.

Upon this Report, the House declares, that their Intention [is, that the] Nobility shall be rated according to the [former] Resolutions of the House; and that the [Blanks] shall be filled up in the [Bill.]
