PRAYERS.

Petition from Sutton, &c.

ORDERED, That the Petition of the Inhabitants of Sutton, Lutton, St. James, and St. Edmunds, in the County of Lincolne, being about Three thousand Persons, be referred to the Consideration of that Committee for the Fens, where Mr. Ellis has the Chair.

Contempt of Summons.

Ordered, That Mr. Wm. Winckford, Register of the County of Essex, be sent for, as a Delinquent, by the Serjeant at Arms attending on this House, to answer his Contempt, in not appearing before the Committee of * *, being twice summoned to appear, by Two several Warrants under the Hand of Mr. Pelham, who has the Chair at that Committee.

Reding Borough.

Committee to meet.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Ministers Remonstrance, now sine die, do meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer-chamber.

Pluralities, &c.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act for Reformation of Pluralities and Nonresidencies; upon Question, committed unto the same Committee as the Bill against the Pluralities of Spiritual Promotions is committed; and they are to meet on Thursday next in the Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Inner Court of Wards.

Subsidies.

1 vice lecta est Billa, An Act of Confirmation of the Four Subsidies granted this Parliament.

Cosens', &c. Impeachment.

Sir Arth. Ingram is appointed to go up with this Message to the Lords; to desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, so soon as shall stand with their Lordships Conveniency, touching the Transmitting of the Charge against Dr. Cosens, and others.

Mr. Rowse and Mr. Potts are to go up with this Charge, and to manage this Conference.

Subsidies.

2da vice lecta est Billa, An Act of Confirmation of the Four Subsidies granted this Session of Parliament; upon Question, committed unto the Committee appointed for those Four Subsidies; and they are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Mr. Young is added to this Committee.

It is likewise Ordered, That it be referred to this Committee, to consider of some Way of amending such Defaults as are happened in the Omission of the Commissioners Names of the Counties of Bucks and Gloucester.

Star-chamber, &c. Jurisdiction.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Star-chamber do prepare a Bill, or several Bills, concerning the Jurisdiction of the Court of Star-chamber, the Council-board, and the High Commission Court; that they may be ready to go up with the Bill of the Two Subsidies.

Proceedings in Parliament.

Ordered, That, on Friday come Sevennight, the House take into Debate the Consideration of regulating the Proceedings in Parliament in general: And Mr. Speaker is required to put the House in mind of this Order.

Captives at Algiers.

Ordered, That the Petition of Mr. James Frizell, Consul of Algiers, in the Name of himself, and others poor Captives referred from the King to the Parliament, be referred to the Committee for Algiers.

Popish Hierarchy.

Ordered, That these following be added to the Committee for the Popish Hierarchy; viz. Sir H. Anderson, Sir Tho. Middleton, Mr. Martin, Sir Rich. Buller, Mr. Rolles, Sir Geo. Stonehowse, Mr. Dunch, Mr. Vane, Mr. Hussey, Mr. Ja. Fines, Sir Tho. Parker, Sir Jo. Coke, Ld. Ruthyn, Sir Arth. Haselrigg, Sir Edm. Vowell, Mr. Fountaine, Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Goodwyn, Sir Martin Lumley, Mr. Morley, Sir Wm. Litton, Mr. Darley, Mr. Kirby, Sir H. Vane, Sir Jo. Corbett: They are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Worcester Election.

Whereas Thursday come Three Weeks was, by an Order made on Saturday last, appointed for hearing the Cause concerning the Worcestershire Election, at the Committee for Sir Lewis Dive, where Mr. Constantin has the Chair; it is this Day ordered, that the Hearing of that Cause be not till Friday come Month.

Conference agreed to.

Sir Arth. Ingram brings Answer of the Message; that the Lords will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Trial of Earl of Straford.

Mr. Whittlock reports from the Committee for the Earl of Straford; That whereas the House of Commons have formerly declared to their Lordships, that the Earl of Straford being impeached by them, they do conceive it doth belong to them to resolve, in what Manner they will be present at his Trial; and that, of Right, they may come as a House, if they please; but, for some special Reasons, upon this Occasion, they are resolved to send their own Members, as a Committee of the whole House, authorized by the House to be present at the Trial, to hear, and some particular Persons, of themselves, to manage the Evidence:

The House of Commons doth still continue their Resolution, in every Part thereof; and therein, and in the Matter of allowing Counsel, and their Lordships Reservations to their Judgment what is matter of Fact, and what not, the House of Commons do save to themselves, as they have formerly done, all Rights that do pertain to them, according to Law, and the Course of Parliaments; and do declare, that the Proceedings in this Case shall not be drawn into Precedent, to the Prejudice of the Commons.

Ordered, That this Protestation be, by way of Conference, transferred to the Lords.

Removing Recusants.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House shall proceed to join with the Lords, according to their former Proposition, to petition his Majesty for the Removal of all Popish Recusants from Court; especially these Four named, viz. Mr. Mountague, Sir Kenelme Digby, Sir Jo. Wintour, and Sir Toby Mathew.

Disbanding Irish Army, &c.

Mr. Nath. Fines is appointed to go up to the Lords, with a Message from this House; to desire a free Conference with their Lordships, concerning the Matter of the last free Conference, touching the Disbanding of the new-levied Irish Army, the Disarming of the Papists, and the Removal of the Papists from Court.

The same Members that managed the last free Conference, touching this Matter, are likewise required to manage this: And they are likewise to represent, unto the Lords, the Fifth Article of the Petition concerning Religion, and his Majesty's Answer unto that Article that was presented unto his Majesty, by both Houses, at the Parliament at Oxon 9° Augusti, 1625.
