Prayers.

Pelham's Estate.

AN ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for securing out of some of the Manors, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments of Charles Pelham, of Brockelsby in the County of Lincolne, Esquire, the Sum of Five thousand Pounds with Interest, unto Anne Pelham, eldest Daughter of the said Charles, was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be agreed.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Cotton do carry the Bill to the Lords; and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the Bill, with the said Amendments: To which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Halford's Estate.

Sir Samuel Barnardiston reports from the Committee to whom the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act to vest divers Manors, Lands, and Tenements in the County of Leicester, in Trustees, to be sold for the Payments of the Debts and Legacies of Sir William Halford, Knight, deceased, and for Payment of the other Debts of Sir Wm. Halford, now living, prior to his Marriage Settlement with the Lady Frances his now Wife, was committed, That they had heard the several Petitioners, and had agreed upon several Amendments to be made to the Bill; which they had directed him to report to the House: And which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were read; and are as followeth;

Press 4, Line 6, after the Word "Incumbrances," leave out these Words, "other than such as are intended to be kept on foot for Protecting of the Jointure Lands of the Lady Frances, not hereby directed to be sold.

Press 6, Line 42, after "Esquire," add these Words, "as to the Lands and Hereditaments hereby directed to be sold."

Press 8, Line 26, leave out, after the Word "Assigns," the whole Clause to the Word, "saving," in the 38th Line; and, instead thereof, add Clause A;

That, notwithstanding the Trusts to be transferred, as aforesaid, nothing shall hereby be construed or intended to extend to the Trusts or Power vested in them, the said Dame Elizabeth Halford, Thomas Atkins, and Henry Halford, as Executors of the said Sir Wm. Halford, deceased, as for and concerning divers Lands, and Tenements in Frisby aforesaid, now in Mortgage to Sir James Etheridge, Knight; the said Premises being only a Chattel in Trust; any thing in this Act to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding.

Press the last, Line 11th, after "thereof," add these Words, "hereby directed to be sold."

And the said Amendments being severally read a Second time were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Vernon's Estate.

Mr. Christy reports from the Committee to whom the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the better assuring to George Vernon, and his Heirs and Assigns, Four Acres of Land in Ebisham in the County of Surry, was committed, That they had considered the Bill; and had directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendments: And he delivered the same in at the Table.

Sadler's Estate.

Mr. Travers reports from the Committee to whom the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable Sir Edwin Sadler to sell Lands to pay his Debts, was committed, that they had considered the same; and had directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendments: And he delivered the same in at the Table.

St. Paul's Shadwell Waterworks.

Sir Matthew Andrews reports from the Committee to whom the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for incorporating the Proprietors of the Waterworks in the Parish of St. Paul's Shadwell, in the County of Middlesex, and for the encouraging, carrying on, and settling the said Waterworks, was committed, That they had agreed upon several Amendments to be made to the Bill: Which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout, and are as followeth; viz.

The First Amendment being read a Second time:

And the Question being put thereupon, That the House do agree with the Committee in the said Amendment;

It passed in the Negative.

The rest of the said Amendments, being severally read a Second time, were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

London Orphans.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for Relief of the distressed Orphans of the City of London, be now read the Second time;

Corresponding with their Majesties Enemies.

Clandestine Marriages.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords do put this House in mind of the Bill, intituled, An Act against corresponding with their Majesties Enemies; and also of the Bill, intituled, An Act disabling Minors to marry, without the Consent of their Fathers or Guardians, and against their untimely marrying after the Decease of their Fathers, and for preventing Clandestine Marriages for the future.

Curtis' Estate.

Also the Lords have agreed to the Amendments made by this House to the Bill, intituled, An Act for the more speedy Payment of the Debts of Elizabeth Curtis, Widow, late deceased, and Performance of an Agreement, touching the same, made between Charles Curtis, in his Life-time, and Edward Earle, according to a Decree in the High Court of Chancery.

And then the Messengers withdrew.

Supply Bill Poll Tax.

An ingrossed Bill for a Quarterly Poll, according to the Order of the Day, was read the Third time.

Several Amendments proposed to be made; viz.

Press 2, Line *, by adding "Widow, or unmarried Woman;" and, after "such," to leave out "an;" and insert "Estates respectively;" and, Press 10, Line *, after "determined," to add "and in like Manner within Thirty Days after every other quarterly Payment."

And, upon the Question severally put thereupon, the same were agreed unto by the House; and the Bill amended at the Table accordingly.

An ingrossed Clause was offered as a Rider to the Bill, That all Tradesmen, Artificers, Vintners, and others, who, by virtue of this Act are to pay Ten Shillings Quarterly, shall pay double also, if they do not voluntarily appear, and take the Oaths to their Majesties that the Gentlemen are by this Act obliged to take, to be levied and paid as aforesaid.

And the Question being put, That the Clause be read;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for raising Money by a Poll, payable Quarterly for One Year, for carrying on a vigorous War against France.

Resolved, That Mr. Solicitor General do carry the Bill to the Lords; and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the said Bill do lie on the Table until Monday next;

It passed in the Negative.

Supply Bills; English and Irish Forfeitures.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to put them in mind of the Bill for vesting the forfeited Estates in England in their Majesties, to be applied to the Use of the War; and also of the Bill for vesting the forfeited Estates in Ireland in their Majesties, to be applied to the Use of the War.

Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor General do carry the said Message to the Lords.

Corresponding with their Majesties Enemies.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act against corresponding with their Majesties Enemies, be read the Second time To-morrow Morning at Twelve a Clock.

London Orphans.

Mr. Boscowen, according to Order, presented to the House, a Bill for satisfying the Debts due to the Orphans of the City of London. And the same was received.

Supply Bill; Loan on Excise.

Ordered, That the Bill for borrowing Monies upon Two Acts of Parliament, the one made in the First, and the other in the Second Year of their Majesties Reign, for granting several additional Duties of Excise upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, in order to the more speedy Building of Seven-and-twenty Ships of War, by the latter of the said Acts provided to be built, be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

Court of Claims in Ireland.

Ordered, That the Bill for erecting a Court of Claims in Ireland, be read a Second time To-morrow Morning.

French Protestants.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Motion Yesterday made, for a Supply to be granted to their Majesties, for Relief of the poor French Protestants.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight a Clock.
