Leave of Absence.
ORDERED, That Sir Francis Warre have Leave to go into the Country, for Three Weeks.
Reviving Proceedings at Law.
The House then took into Consideration the Amendments proposed by the Lords, to be made to the Bill for Reviving of Actions and Process lately depending in the Courts at Westminster, and curing other Defects.
And the same were read; and are as followeth;
Press 1, L. 16, instead of the Second "and," read "by and with the Advice and Consent of".
Press 5, L. 36, after "and," add "before".
The Amendments were again severally read; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed to by the House.
Ordered, That Sir John Holt do go to the Lords, and acquaint them with the Concurrence of this House to the said Amendments.
Leave of Absence.
Ordered, That Mr. Henry Trenchard have Leave to go into the Country, for a Fortnight.
Simoniacal Promotions.
A Bill that the Simony of one Person may not prejudice another, was read the First time.
Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.
Privilege-Libellous Words.
A Motion being made, by Mr. Williams, a Member of the House, that Captain Motley, with his Witnesses, might appear at the Bar of the House, to clear himself from the Accusation Yesterday against him, in regard he denied the speaking any such thing as he was accused of; and that therefore also he might not be in the Custody of the Serjeant: And Mr. Williams undertaking that he shall appear on Monday Morning, and submit himself to the House;
Ordered, That the Order for taking Captain Motley into Custody be suspended: And that he, and his Witnesses, do attend on Monday Morning next; and also the Person that accused him.
King's Speech considered.
The House then, according to the Order of Yesterday, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to take further Consideration of his Majesty's Speech.
Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Hamden took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.
Mr. Hamden reports from the Committee of the whole House, That, they having taken further Consideration of his Majesty's Speech, they had agreed on Two Resolves, which they directed him to report to the House: And he having read the same in his Place, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same being read, are as followeth:
Navy and Army.
Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the House be moved, that his Majesty be humbly desired to direct an Estimate to be sent to this House, what Fleet will be necessary for this Summers Service.
Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That the House be moved, that his Majesty be humbly desired to give Direction, that the House may be informed, what the mutual Obligations of Assistance are, by any Treaties, between this Crown and the States of Holland.
The First of the said Resolves being read a Second time;
Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee, That his Majesty be humbly desired to direct an Estimate to be sent to this House, what Fleet will be necessary for this Summer's Service.
The Second of the said Resolves being read a Second time;
Resolved, That this House doth agree with the Committee, That his Majesty be humbly desired to give Directions, that the House may be informed, what the mutual Obligations of Assistance are, by any Treaties, between this Crown and the States of Holland.
Ordered, That such Members of this House as are of his Majesty's most honourable Privy Council, do acquaint his Majesty with such the Desires of this House.
Committees.
Ordered, That all Committees be revived.
Marches Court in Wales.
Resolved, That the Bill for taking away the Court held before the President and Council of Wales, be now read a Second time.
The Bill was read a Second time.
A Petition of the Corporation and Inhabitants of the Town of Ludlow, and Parts adjacent; desiring the said Court may be continued; was read.
Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Sir Edw. Harley, Mr. Gwyn, Mr. Wogan, Mr. Paul Foley, Mr. Sommers, Sir Wm. Gregory, Mr. Arnold, Mr. Leveson, Gowr, Sir Robert Nappier, Sir Rob. Cotton, Sir Tho. Mompesson, Sir Christopher Musgrave, Sir John Guise, Lord Falkland, Sir Robert Goodrick, Mr. Roberts, Sir Hen. Capell, Sir Tho. Clarges, Mr. Done, Mr. Buckley, Mr. Cristy, Sir Wm. Williams, jun. Sir Jos. Tredenham, Mr. H. Herbert, Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Cooke, Mr. Hamden, Mr. Ashburnham, Major Manley, Mr. Dolben, Colonel Birch: And all that come are to have Voices: And they are to meet on Monday next, at Four of the Clock in the Afternoon, in the Exchequer Chamber: And are impowered to send for Persons, Papers; and Records.
Resolved, That the Consideration of the said Petition be also referred to the same Committee.
Exporting Corn, &c.
A Bill for Exportation of Corn and Grain, was read the Second time.
Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Sir Rob. Davers, Lord Falkland, Mr. Eldred, Lord Wiltshire, Colonel Birch, Sir Walter Young, Mr. Somers, Mr. Fenwick, Sir Robert Nappier, Mr. Done, Sir Fra. Russell, Sir Hen. Goodrick, Mr. Leveson Gower, Sir Wm. Honeywood, Mr. Brewer, Sir Ralph Dutton, Sir Tho. Lee, Mr. Foley, Sir Wm. Gregory, Mr. Nowell, Sir Wm. Cooper, Sir Edw. Harley, Major Wildman, Mr. Bilson, Sir Tho. Clarges, Sir Edw. Norreis, Mr. England, Mr. Lee, Sir Matth. Andrews; and all that serve for the Port Towns: And they are to meet on Monday next, at Four a Clock in the Afternoon, in the Speaker's Chamber.
And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Nine a Clock.
