Grys' Decree.

Counsel heard at the Bar, in the Bill touching Grys and Cottrell, according to former Order.

Mr. Richison contra, for Cottrell; Mr. Bartlett, assigned by Mr. Speaker, in forma pauperis, for Grys, being a very poor Man.

Upon the Hearing, re-committed to the former Committees : - To meet on Wednesday, in the Exchequer Chamber.

Statutes.

Mr. Moore returneth from the Committee the Bill for Continuance, &c. with such Amendments and Provisoes, as were the last Day committed unto him: -

Reporteth the Agreement of the Committee, that to the Law, for the true Making and Working of Woollen Cloths, a Proviso, touching Welsh Cottons, is to be added.

A Proviso offered by Sir Francis Hastings, touching an Imitation of Clothing in several Counties; as in Somersetshire [a].

This Proviso to sleep till the next Session.

A Proviso, touching Dover Haven, tendered; the Penning disliked, and much disputed; and, after Debate, referred to certain of the Committee, presently to amend it,

Tonage and Poundage.

Sir John Crooke, Sir Edw. Stanhope, and Mr. D. Hone, come down with Message; That the Lords having received a Bill touching a Subsidy of Tonage and Poundage, which they observed to be defective, and to require some Amendments ; but did not conceive it to proceed from any Slackness or Coldness of this House, thinking they meant it to be as ample and beneficial as ever any of the like Nature; for the Clearing of all Doubts, they do therefore desire, there may be a Conference touching that Bill: To that End they had named Thirty, to meet with some Number of this House Tomorrow in the Afternoon, in the Painted Chamber.
