give order to the officers of the Four and a Half
per cent Duty in Barbados and the Leeward Isles
to pay what shall remain of the proceed of that
duty from Jan. 1 last (after satisfying the usual
charges of the Government there and of the cost
of management of said duty) to the Commander
in Chief of said Islands to be by him applied towards
the payment of the Duke of Bolton's Regiment of
Foot and the Nevis Company in the West Indies
as follows : and further to give directions to the
officers of said revenue to send to us, the Treasury
Lords, through you the acquittances of said Commander
in Chief, so that the Paymaster of the
Forces may be charged therewith and that tallies
may be struck on the Customs Cashier for the
regular discharge [of the officers so paying such
sums].
Prefixing : order of the King in Council, dated Whitehall,
Nov. 7 last, made upon a proposal from the
Committee for Trade and Plantations : said proposal
being that as the King has appointed said Regiment
(whereof Henry Holt is Lieut. Col.) to go to the
Caribbee Islands and that it be cleared to Jan. 1
next, therefore the abovesaid revenue be applied
as above towards pay of said Regiment and of the
Company of Foot at present remaining at Nevis
upon account and that the remainder of their pay
be satisfied by the Paymaster General of the Forces
in England. The King hereby approves and
orders same. |
