Mar. 17. Royal letters patent constituting and appointing Sir Richard May, kt. (Recorder of the city of Chester), to be a Baron of the Exchequer loco Francis Crackley, esq.: with all fees, profits etc. as held by any of his predecessors, excepting the fees paid by the King's Receiver to John Sotherton, esq., father of John Sotherton, formerly a Baron of the Exchequer, for his life, for examining the accounts of the King's receivers and ministers in cos. Yorks, Bucks, Beds, Oxford, Berks, South Wales and the Duchy of Cornwall and subsequently similarly so paid to Sir Edward Bromley, late a Baron of the Exchequer, and Sir Richard Weston, late a same, amounting yearly to the sum of 73l.: in recompense whereof the King hereby grants said May an annuity or yearly fee of 100 marks: payable half yearly at the Exchequer during pleasure.
