William Lowndes to the Comptrollers of the Accounts of the Army to report on the enclosed three lists [missing] signed by the Deputy Governor of Gibraltar of the number of persons victualled in the Garrison there between June 16 last and August 10 last and his two certificates of the quantity of provisions laid into his Majesty's storehouse there by the Contractor on July 19 and Sept. 3 last. Same to Mr. Colby enclosing the King's orders [missing] signified by Secretary Craggs concerning the Regiments that are to be transported to Ireland. Please attend my Lords to-morrow morning with an estimate of the said transports. Ibid.
Treasury reference to the Auditor of the Receipt of the petition of Jaques Meyers shewing that Gerard Sohnius purchased certain reversions of annuities “for lives of Lord Ranelagh”; after which Meyers purchased the same of Sohnius: that on 21 Oct. 1699 Meyers lodged the reversions in the hands of Edward Browne, merchant, who being ignorant of the Act [11–12 Wm. III, c. 3] for laying further Duties on wrought silks &c. from the East Indies and for enlarging the time for purchasing certain Reversionary Annuities therein mentioned (which required the registering the assignments in the Exchequer) elapsed the time therein limited for doing the same: that the said Browne (a life being dropped) applied himself to the Exchequer to receive the interest due on the said annuity for the said Meyers; but the [Exchequer] officers refused payment thereof on account of such annuity not being registered: that no penalty is inflicted by the Act: [therefore praying a decision] whether by petitioning the Lords of the Treasury a clause for relief may be obtained in an Act of Parliament.
