My Lords this day received a letter signed A. B. from a person who owns he hath defrauded his Majesty in the sum of 186l. 2s. 0d. and believing his repentance would at best be hypocritical without restoring the sum wrongfully detained he accordingly encloses two Bank bills to the amount thereof: which according to his desire my Lords have directed to be paid into the Exchequer for the use of the Public.
Prepare an advertisement to be inserted in Saturday's Gazette signifying the receipt of the letter and the application of the money accordingly.
[Write] Mr. Cracherode to attend my Lords with a state of the prosecution of the frauds committed in Chelsea Hospital.

The Governor and Company of the Bank of England are called in. They congratulate my Lords upon their accession to their office and proffer their assistance upon all occasions for the service of the public.
The Earl of Sunderland answers that he will acquaint his Majesty with their readiness in offering their service and does not doubt but they will continue the same zeal which they have always testifyd for his Majesty's Government.
The Deputy Governor and Directors of the South Sea Company are likewise called in. They congratulate my Lords in a speech to the same effect and are answered in like manner.
My Lords direct a state to be made of what hath passed here [in the Treasury] in relation to the Commissioners for Forfeitures, together with [an account of] all the issues of money which have been made to them, out of what funds and upon what heads.
[Write] the Commissioners for Taxes to attend on Wednesday next with a list of all the arrears of the House [Duty] money and Land Tax.
