Chirograph indented: the contention moved between Robert son of Robert de Stretl' and Elizabeth his wife, plaintiffs, and John de Herriz, defendant, over a wardship (quadam varda) of land which was of Richard Bugge in Vilgheby, of the fee of John son of Geoffrey son of Oda (Ode), Tuesday after the Purification, 3 Edward [I], at Nottingham, in the church of St. Nicholas, before Robert son of Walter de Stretl', Walter de Stirkeley then sheriff of Nottingham, Hugh de Falkam, Geoffrey de Dethek, Nicholas de Vermundisvorth, in friendly manner by the under-written composition was appeased (amacabiliter quievit), to wit, the said John granted for himself and his heirs the said wardship to be the right of the said Robert and Elizabeth and therein on Saturday next will cause them to re-have full seisin, doing to the said John and his heirs homage and other services due, which homage the said Robert shall do at once (incon- tinenti). John has also granted to restore to Robert and Elizabeth a moiety of the issues from the said land for a year and a half while he held the said land, within St. Peter's Chair in the year aforesaid, and will acquit the amercements in the county of Nottingham which by occasion of the plea aforesaid are bound to be paid. Robert and Elizabeth will withdraw a plea of Quare vi et armis hanging in the Bench concerning the said contention and will save him harmless there, to their ability, for 10s. which he shall pay to Robert on the Saturday aforesaid, &c.
