Agreement between Richarde, late the wife of Nicholas Trevelwyth, and William Tregos, in the king's chancery before the bishop of Winchester, chancellor of England, touching the former's complaint by bill in chancery against William, as to the title of certain lands and tenements; viz. that the said Richarde shall be restored to possession, and William shall find sufficient surety not to disturb her, but if it seem good to him he shall sue an assize of novel disseisin, to which she shall give surety to answer the costs if it go against her; and John Basset and John Motte, of London, brewers, on November 25 next shall come to the chancery and be bound to William in 100l. to be levied on their lands and tenements if the assize go against Richarde. 3 November, 1 Henry V. Indenture witnessing that whereas John Mawlte, esquire, by indenture dated 28th April, 37 Henry VIII., demised to Oliver Hyde of Abingdon, his farm place in Uffington with lands called 'Oldelands,' 'Hoggen,' 'Dane,' 'Ewendowne,' 'Wetherdowne,' 'Sheephowse closes,' 'Drovewey,' 'Conynger,' 'Somerleez,' 'Moredowne,' 'Morowleez,' 'Home close,' and 'Westeham,' and arable ground in Uffington for twenty years from the Annunciation then last past, as amply as John Andelett and Katherine his wife held them by a lease from the late abbot and convent of Abingdon, paying 20l.: the said Mawlte for 166l. 13s. 4d. paid to him by William Cator of Uffington, as a fine, has demised the premises with the arable ground lying near a cross called 'Blakes Crosse' and a close called 'Brychecombe close' alias 'Sheppehouse close,' to the said Cator, for forty years from the Annunciation, A.D. 1565, paying 20l. yearly.
