A. 501. Grant by William, the prior, and the canons of Blakemore.
The late Alan de Sanford, son of the late knt. their patron, Sir John de
Sanford, had elected to be buried in their church near his forefathers, and
Sir Gilbert Basset, uncle (advunculus) of the same Alan, had converted to
their use 30 acres which lady Alice de Sanford held of them in Alfladewike,
for the "remedium" of his said deceased grandson and knt.; and by this
and other largesses the said Gilbert, with their said patron and lady Alice
his wife, have caused their church to have perpetual memory of the deceased.
Wherefore they grant to Gilbert and his heirs the right of presenting one
canon, whom they shall be bound to admit; such canon to be called the

mill in Stratteford, now destroyed, which the master and brethren held
and the site whereof they still hold. The latter agree that the convent
shall receive yearly 9s. 6d. of their rent issuing from the tenement

between Lord Grey and John Zouche for sale and purchase of the manor
and castle of Codnore, and the manors and lordships of Henor, Losco, and
Langley, co. Derby, and of Estwayte, co. Notts, all which Zouche was to
have immediately on the decease of Lord Grey; and of the reversion of his
lands in Bitame and Castle Bitame, co. Lincoln, and of lands in Essex and
Kent worth 100l. yearly, belonging to the said lord, which Zouche was to
have on the decease of Katherine, wife of Lord Grey: paying therefor
600 marcs, of which 100l. is paid to Dame Katherine, executrix and late
