A. 1674. Agreement made before Humphrey, called prior of St. Mary's
of Southwark, to settle the dispute between Master Alexander, rector of
St. Swithin's of Kandelwricchestrate, and Stephen de Codre, chaplain, as to
60s. yearly rent bequeathed by William Wite by will to St. Swithin's aforesaid, for a chaplain to celebrate divine service there for ever. Stephen
shall receive 30s. for performing the service half the year, and Alexander
30s. for the other half year. If Alexander die, put on the religious habit,
or be transferred to another church, Stephen may receive the whole 60s.
Stephen will assist Alexander in distraining from the fee from which the

have paid the grantor by instalments, but which of his mere liberality and

in Eastcheap, at a yearly rent of 6s., for which tenement he has sworn on the

long as he does so he is to hold the shop, which adjoins land of the Hospitallers of St. Giles. Witnesses:—John de Ballio, Alan son of Peter, and others
