Prayers.

Leave of Absence.

ORDERED, That Mr. Westphaling have the Leave of this House to go into the Country, to attend his necessary Occasions.

Answer to Address.

The House, with Mr. Speaker, went to attend His Majesty in the Banquetting House at Whitehall, to present the Petition and Address of both Houses, to prevent the Growth of Popery.

Mr. Speaker with the House returning, reported his Majesty's gracious Speech, and Answer to the Address and Petition of both Houses, for the preventing the Growth of Popery, this Day humbly presented to his Majesty, by both Houses: Which gracious Speech and Answer was to this Effect;

My Lords and Gentlemen,

I WILL take care of all these Things: I will cause a Proclamation to be issued out against the Priests: I will cause the Judges and all other Officers, to put the Laws against Papists in Execution, and all other Things that may conduce to the Prevention of the Growth of Popery. But I suppose no Man will wonder, if I make a Difference between those, that have newly changed their Religion, and those that were bred up in that Religion, and served My Father and Me faithfully in the late Wars.

Thanks on Answer.

Resolved, &c. That the most humble and hearty Thanks of this House be returned to His Majesty, by such Members of this House, as are of His Majesty's Most honourable Privy Council, for his Gracious Speech, and Answer to the Address abovesaid.

Adulteration of Wine.

Ordered, That these Members following be added to the Committee to which the Bill for Search and Essay of Wines, was committed; viz. Sir Francis Clarke, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Morris, Sir Solomon Swale, Sir Rowland Berkley, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Crouch, Sir John Coventry, Colonel Sands, Sir John Earnely, Sir Henry Herbert, Mr. Lucy, Sir John Morton, Lord Richardson, Sir Thomas Clergis, Sir John Mallet, and all that serve for Port Towns.

Indigent Officers.

The House then proceeded in the Reading of the Report of the Amendments to the Bill on the Behalf of the indigent loyal Officers: Which were twice read: And some agreed; and others postponed.

Resolved, &c. That the Debate of the Report be adjourned till To-morrow Morning.

Tobacco.

Resolved, &c. That the Committee to which the Bill against planting Tobacco in England, which was to sit this Afternoon, be adjourned; and do sit To-morrow in the Afternoon.

Booth's Estate.

Ordered, That Sir Clement Fisher, Sir Solomon Swale, Mr. Wyn, Sir Herbert Price, Mr. Sacheverell, Mr. Hampden, be added to the Committee, to which the Bill of Henry Booth Esquire was committed.

Defaulter to Call of the House.

Sir Henry Anderson, a Defaulter in Attendance, did make his Excuse in his Place: Which was allowed by the House; and he excused, paying his Fees.

Supply Bill; foreign Commodities.

Resolved, &c. That the House will, at Two of the Clock this Afternoon, resolve into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the further Consideration of the Bill for an Imposition on foreign Commodities; and no other Business whatsoever to intervene.

Bromley's Estate.

The Bill on the Behalf of Mr. Bromley, being ordered to be reported To-morrow, being Tuesday the Fourteenth of March, at Ten of the Clock in the Morning, some Members did this Day acquaint the House that the Bill was withdrawn; and no Report to be made: Which the House did accept; and agree to accordingly.

Then the House adjourned till Three of the Clock, Afternoon.

Exporting Coal.

THE Bill for Exportation of Coal, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be committed to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill of additional Impositions on foreign Commodities, is committed, to make it Part of that Bill; or a Bill by itself.

Supply Bill; foreign Commodities.

The House resolved into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill of additional Impositions on foreign Commodities.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Seymour took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Seymour reports from the said Committee, that they had made some further Progress in the said Bill; and humbly moved, from the said Committee, that the House would resolve into a Committee of the whole House To-morrow Morning, to proceed in the further Consideration thereof.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with the Committee, That the House do resolve into a Committee of the whole House To-morrow Morning, to proceed in the further Consideration of the Bill of additional Impositions on foreign Commodities.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
